Hello everyone :)

Anyone here done the wedding fireworks? I'm a bit conflicted because I want the fireworks, but if I have the ceremony that starts at 5 (in January, so it will get a little darker earlier, but I don't know if it'll be dark enough), will it even be dark enough for fireworks?

:confused3

I know I'm giving this a lot of thought, but my parents, DF and I would really love fireworks without choosing the 7:30 time slot of the day.

So has anyone here done specifically the wedding fireworks (as in NOT the Illuminations at EPCOT), and if so, what was your experience with it?

Janet2K had fireworks at her MGM Reception a few years ago. Aside from her experience, I've heard the ones at the WP are a bit underwhelming. I think they last something like 90 seconds, and for the cost you could practically do a dessert party... :confused3

OK, that was a total downer.... :upsidedow Can you Google the sunrise/sunset times for your wedding day? Maybe that would help give you an idea! :thumbsup2

We're getting married Jan 18th and sunset is at 5:45pm with civil twilight ending at 6:19pm.

LOL, well not too much of a downer if it saves me money for an underwhelming event.

I may put that money towards something else then!

I'm gonna re-read some parts of your PJ to find dessert party info!

And I think her fireworks were quite late - maybe 2:00am? Janet - are you out there?

GlobalDiva, your post has perfect timing. Well, kinda. ;)

I actually have a few screen captures of the standard fireworks package for the Wedding Pavilion. I'll try to upload them later on today. The images should help you visualize what those firerworks look like. Stay tuned (I'll post a couple of them here in this thread).

As was already mentioned, I had a custom fireworks display that was set to music for my FTW vow renewal a couple of years ago. Disney's Pyrotechnic folks did a wonderful job with it. Those fireworks were set off at 2 AM inside the Disney Studios theme park. They were an incredible way to cap off 20 years of marriage. I'm too tired right now to dig up the link to my photos, but I will try to do that later on today too.

The following screen captures were taken directly from the current FTW DVD. They show what I ~believe~ was the standard fireworks package for the Wedding Pavilion. As far as I can tell, both sets of fireworks video footage were identical -- except the black & white footage was used when the fireworks were first shown on the DVD (the color video footage was used later on).

Again, I ~believe~ the fireworks shown on the FTW DVD were the standard ones. Please confirm this directly with the Fairy Tale Weddings folks.

Now that my disclaimer is out of the way ;) , I have personally seen the fireworks shot off from the Wedding Pavilion area. During my last WDW vacation, I was staying in a turret room in the main building of the Grand Floridian. This room had an excellent view of the Wedding Pavilion. My daughter & I had bopped into our room one afternoon. I heard a loud pop coming from outside and so I glanced out the windows. I saw fireworks being shot off near the pavilion. By the time I thought to grab my camera, the fireworks had come to an end (drats!). My guess is that they lasted around a minute. If you have seen the fireworks for the afternoon show on the castle's stage inside the Magic Kingdom, you should have a good idea as to what these fireworks looked like.

I hope this helped.

I had a custom fireworks display for my FTW vow renewal (they were shot off at 2 AM inside the Disney Studios theme park). Disney asked me to choose a song since their Pyrotechnics folks were going to choreograph a fireworks display to it. I submitted a song and it was immediately shot down. Drats! Disney did so due to licensing & marketing reasons. There is a funny story in regards to how a song was eventually chosen, and one day I hope to share it in my old trip report (which I am working on again).

Having a custom fireworks display was a fun but very nerve-wracking experience for me. Once I signed the contract for my display, there was no turning back. Those fireworks were set to go off come rain or come shine. Believe me, I tossed and turned until the night of my event. Thankfully, Mother Nature was on my side that evening and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. It was the most incredible way to end 20 years of marriage -- and to begin the next 20 years, ~sigh.~

Click here to see a slide show of some of my fireworks photos (and click here for the album).

I do have video to share of my display and will add it to my trip report one day soon. At least that's my plan. ;)

I hope this helped.

Thanks so much for adding this info Janet! I love your photos!! Thanks so much for sharing them :)

Thanks so much for adding this info Janet!

You're welcome, GlobalDiva. Are you considering adding on the fireworks package to a Wedding Pavilion ceremony? If you are, I bet the FTW folks have better photos to share with you than the screen captures that I made from the FTW DVD (at least I hope they do by now). Perhaps if you contacted them, they could forward something along to you.

As to the custom fireworks display that was created for my vow renewal, I asked the FTW folks to feel free to share photos / video with whomever asked. I know that when I was planning that aspect of my vow renewal, there were no photos or videos of a custom fireworks display to share with me. That complicated my decision-making process. It's awfully hard to visualize such an important piece of an event if you have no idea what it might look like. Yikes! And so I had to trust Disney completely when I signed on the dotted-line. Thankfully, my trust was not misplaced. And now I hope I have made that very same decision-making process easier for others. At least I attempted to do so when I asked Disney to share my fireworks information. Of course, it's up to them as to whether or not they've followed through with their end of the bargain. ;)

I'm glad I was able to help here in your thread. Good luck with the planning process -- and let me know if you need anything further from me.

Thank you so much for the shots! We really wanted fireworks after our ceremony, but like you said, it's really hard to visualize it. Now we're trying to decide about the cost. I think it's listed right now as $3,000 (I could have SWORN it was less last year, lol, but who knows??), but hey, you get married once (or at least VERY few times :) )

GlobalDiva, you are correct. In the past, 25-seconds of fireworks at the Wedding Pavilion started at $2,500 (I had that information stated inside an old trip report of mine). I see that the FTW website states the following now:

- - - - - - -
Private Fireworks (Wedding Pavilion) - $3,000
Take your wedding experience straight into the stratosphere and splash the night sky with your own private fireworks display!

- - - - - - -

A custom fireworks display, for example, like the one I had inside the Disney Studios theme park, will run you a custom price tag.

I found a short FTW video clip. Approximately 13-seconds into it, fireworks will be shot off from behind the Wedding Pavilion: click here.

Edited to Add: You might have to click on that link more than once in order to get the FTW video to load. Just thought I'd mention that.

Here's a link to a slightly larger video (it's the same video, just in a larger format). I was going to post it yesterday, but the video wouldn't load all the way through. Since I see that it is loading okay today, I thought I'd share it: click here.

The video is in QuickTime format. The fireworks go off approximately 13-seconds into it.
