The wedding I just went to had butter mints and a monogrammed tchotchke. Somebody needed to give the bride and groom a favor memo!

I went to one of my nephew weddings where they had a small bowl of chocolates at the table.

I totally forgot about Jordan Almonds and the matchbooks.

I got married in 1991. I don't really remember doing food favors, but I do remember seeing some matchbooks at the bar. I don't remember ordering any, so they may have been samples with our name/date on it as samples?
Maybe the venue ordered them?

You still see butter mints at some baby showers.

We did chocolates. My mom and I stayed up all night melting chocolate, dyeing it, and putting it into molds. We did clamshells, roses and leaves. It took forever. And most of it was left on the tables. People thought they were little guest soaps! Oh well. We have the memories.

We went to a wedding in December and they gave away gorgeous crystal looking Christmas ornaments. They were many different shapes: snowflakes, trees, presents etc

Ya'll can hate me. I gave the dreaded knickknack kinda. We had a Christmas wedding and gave out Christmas ornaments painted with our wedding date and name on it. We also gave out a picture of my husband and I with each individual family attending our wedding as a thank you card.

While I think that there are going to be people who don't decorate a tree or celebrate Christmas, just like there are people who don't drink wine or eat chocolate, the Christmas ornament I got (a beaded wedding bell) at my cousin's wedding 33 years ago was lovely and one of my favorite favors, and was actually the first ornament DH and I owned when we got married 4 years later.

I also liked receiving a picture of the bride and groom with their thank you note.

I think that sounds very nice.

I just don't understand that either. A favor is a gift, and I can't imagine not being gracious about receiving a gift, whether it was something I liked or not.

Those sound ok- one engagement party I went to the favors were ornaments but it had the couples names on it--I really don't need/want a Christmas ornament with someone elses names on them hanging on my tree, that's just odd!!

I like both butter cream mints and jordan almonds! We got married in 1978 when people were still giving match books. My dad use to smoke a pipe and I think he just finished using the matchbooks a few years ago!

I think mine were pretty original. We got married on Kentucky Derby Day, so each guest got a OTB ticket, which they could take, or leave behind, and for those left behing, I sent cash to all of the winners with the thank you notes.

We did personalized glasses for our wedding favors and had some extras. Those glasses are still in our cupboard and we still drink out of them regularly. We have kids now and they think they are pretty cool too.

At weddings I have been to recently, we've gotten the little jar of honey and maple syrup with the couples names on it, high end chocolates, tea in a cute package, margarita mix, ice tea mix. Been awhile since we've gotten the knickknacks.
When there are little food type items, I have never seen any left on the tables at the end of the night!
I love some of the ideas given here and might scoop some for a bridal shower I am hosting next spring.

Trend seems to be moving more toward edibles around here...chocolates, little bottles of wine, fancy cookies etc.

We did little candy boxes that doubled as seating cards; guest's name and table number was on top of the box. Can't for the life of me remember what kind of candy we put in them, though!

One year (a LONG time ago... 1988?) friends got married at Christmas. They had an enormous Christmas tree at the reception, covered in hand-made ornaments. The bride had a "victorian" shop so she made all the ornaments herself, from lace, ribbon, fabric, ribbon flowers, etc. Guests were invited to take the ornament of their choosing, and we still hang them on our tree; I think of Phil and Laura every Christmas, and wonder where life has taken them.

I personally don't enjoy favors...i don't need any more won't stoppers, deck of cards or coasters with someone else's name on it . When it was my turn to tie the knot i chose to spend the money on something near and dear to my heart, a donation to the leukemia and lymphoma society. We had cards placed on all of the table during cake service informing the guests. We also had a cookie table being from western PA with over 5,000 cookies, thanks to or family. We supplied take home containers so our guests didn't leave empty handed.

Married 8 years ago. We did little white boxes tied in blue ribbon with a tag that said "hugs and kisses from the Mr. and Mrs." Inside were Hershey's kisses and hugs. We put one at each place setting. Kind of corny, looking back, but people seemed to enjoy them!

The wedding we attended last weekend had a lovely poem on s scroll announcing their donation to the couple's favorite charity. I like that favor the best.

We are close to the London Chocolates headquarters. When oldest DS got married, many years ago, I ordered tiny boxes with 2 chocolate buckeyes in each of them for each place at the reception.

Most people from the Chicago area are familiar with Garrett's popcorn. One of my favorite favors was a beautiful bag filled with Garrett's famous cheese/ caramel mix. I didn't see one bag left on the table that night!
