Anyone have a wedding favor idea to share?

Any that you have made yourself? Any ideas for making something out of wood? thinking about 150 people

TIA

You might try posting this on the wedding board too...

I did custom m&m's...they were too cute! And delicious! ;)

I have only been to 3 weddings that have done "favors". The best one was peppermint patties with a sticker with the bride and grooms names and the wedding date. It gave you something to eat after the meal to freshen your breath. The other two were candles but I didn't like the scent so I didn't take one.

Most weddings I've been to have done favors, and the favors that seem the most popular are food ones (cookies, chocolates, that kind of thing). Another that seems not quite but almost as popular are small frames. I've seen people use the frames with inserts of the person's name and table number, then the person just keeps it as their favor. I've always taken the frames and used them for wallet sized photos. I suppose you could do pretty wood ones. I would avoid having your names engraved on them or anything like that.

We had small (airplane sized) bottles of cordials, wrapped in net with a ribbon with a hershey kiss attached to each end. (one per couple)

My sister had small bottles of wine w/ that red wrapped cheese on her ribbon ends. (cannot for the life of me remember the name of the darn cheese)

My brother had .....I do not remember!

when DS got married in Hawaii we had a reception for them when we got back

DH took one of their wedding pictures--scanned it in the computer and made smaller ones with their names and date and we wrapped them around Hersheys minis

DD is getting married in Aug and since they got engaged in WDW on a surprise trip we're using the picture of them standing in front of Spaceship earth with their bride and groom ears on

I plan on giving t-shirts if I can get away with a small enough guest list. The t-shirts will say... "I went to Stacerita and John Doe's wedding and all I got was this stupid shirt". Yep, something other than candy, candles, or frames.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Sorry, that just made me giggle! :teeth:

The best wedding favor I ever got was a kazoo. It was so cool...:)

Good luck with your wood idea, sorry, not creative with wood here. Would it be possible to make some type of little key chains for favors? By searching the internet for wedding favors and also craft stores, you may get more ideas.

Having 4 married children, I've done my share of favors tho ;) . One I really enjoyed making was: chocolate candy hearts, wrapped in fancy paper in lil boxes, with bride and grooms names embossed on top, with lil bow. They were very tasty and guests seemed to enjoy! Good luck!! :goodvibes

The last wedding we went to gave out bamboo shoots. I put mine in water when we got home and they are still living!

We gave out little bottles of wine with our dates and names on it and I dressed them up with some ribbon. princess:

These days making a CD with the couple's "songs" on it are very popular. I went to 4 weddings last year and that was the favor. My cousin had a donation made to a local animal shelter in the guests' names for favors. Also, candles and candies are popular.

There are so many things you can do- the internet is full of ideas! :thumbsup2

At our wedding, I made chocolate flower pops that complemented my wedding colors. They turned out really nice, were edible, and super cheap! For 300 people, we spent about $50 on all the supplies. They also really brightened up the tables.

We also decided to make CD's for our guests....1 per family/couple. I picked a lot of nice, classic love songs. The very first song on the disk was the song DH and I did for our first dance. I made labels on the computer. Our one groomsman works for a networking company and got the CD's at cost. He also used the duplicator at work, so it didn't take long to do. Another friend gave me extra CD labels she had, so again, everything was cheap. I was trully surprised at how many complements I have gotten over that CD. I guess because we tried to keep it classy, universal and not too trendy. It fit a lot of peoples tastes.

My favorite was the deck of cards with the couple's name on it. When can you not use a deck of cards?

For our wedding favors we did chocolate covered pretzels that we made ourselves. They were a huge hit. I saw many empty bags at the end of the reception.

That is a great favor idea and one I never heard of!
