So, last night, we were talking about our dining options and where we would like to eat.

We want to order a fancy one tier cake. So, we were limiting ourselves to the Contemporary, Grand Floridian or Boardwalk since then we can have a cake there.

When I mentioned this to my DF, he said he would love :lovestruc to go to Chef Mickey's since it was the first table meal we had at WDW together. Since all the other details were my choices, I thought what the heck! It fit's our laid back plans and being at the contemporary, it is definitely going to have a vintage vibe!! I love that man and his quirky ways!

We're a crazy laid back couple and since it will be just the two of us, I think my DF idea is perfect. I just don't want to be too out of place at chef mickey's. Our attire is not formal and will be retro inspired so, it will be fun I think!

So, here are my questions:

1. Will we be able to have a fancy fondant 1 tier cake here?

2. will they be able to make a cake that resembles the pic below?

3. Since our wedding is at 9 am, we will probably just grab a bite to eat at POR to have in the room after the ceremony or possibly at DTD. Then go out to have an early dinner at Chef Mickey's (Since our bridal shoot is at DHS the next morning).
Does this make sense? Any suggestions with our downtime?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! TIA!:)

The cake chatter thread on the dining boards will be really helpful for you. Chef brian at the contemporary does the fancy fondant cakes there - and yes they will deliver to chef mickey's. I believe once you call the cake hotline, they will put you in touch with him and you can email him your inspiration photos. He makes wonderful looking cakes! I think your plans sound great!

I say go for it! On the cake chatter thread there's a number you can call.

We had our wedding dinner at Chef Mickey's last week and they put us up in a corner; our group had a lot of fun! They were super accommodating. They pointed out the large family washroom and told me to use that with my dress lol. And we were VERY formal so you definitely won't be too out of place hahaha.

They also said we were the first wedding in there, who knows if that's true but they certainly were very nice.

Sounds like you had a great time! Did you get some good photos? I would love to have character photos with our wedding atire on, but can't really afford to pay for them to attend our ceremony (and it would probably be a bit pointless anyway since it will just be the two of us) Maybe this is a good alternative for us..

Did you have a photographer there, or are there PhotoPass photographers who can take pics?

Thanks!

We didn't have our photographer come, as we just wanted to be able to relax and not have the perma smile on all through dinner, kwim? But Philip's aunt is an amateur photographer and took LOTS, we just haven't made it out to to check out her pictures yet! When we do I'll post some.

So. . . we booked online a meal at Chef Mickey's the night of our wedding!! :cool1:

I'm really excited and can't wait!

Now. . . how far in advance do I need to call about the cake?

Thanks for all you help so far.:)

First of Congrats! Love the picture. I have no doubt that Disney would be able to make that cake for you. I had them design a grooms cake from a picture. My hubby's loves to golf so I had them incorporate a picture of him golfing & then they made a golf cart, clubs, trees & even an alligator. I surprised him with the cake at our welcome party. Everyone loved it!
