A confusing title perhaps.....but not unusual considering how a lot of DFTWs go.

Our day will pretty much be

Ceremony

Dinner

Speeches

Dessert Party

BUT I really don't want to sacrifice having a first dance, as our song has been chosen a long time! And I am so excited to dance with it to my husband. (Should just typing that make me weepy?)

I'd love to hear how any of you ladies pulled it off....

I was thinking perhaps on the Whitehall patio after dinner.....can we get the music out there though?

I asked my co-ordinator about this and it is a possibility (another bride here did her first dance on the patio) but they do kinda discourage it. I got the excuse that if the weather is bad the DJ or whatever may not be able to set up outside if the weather is bad and it didn't sound like they were going to help me out with an alternative if that did happen!

I'd be interested in hearing what your planner/co-ordinator says about this? I'd love to do it myself. I think it would be magical under the stars:lovestruc

Thanks, well the thing is, it wont be dark, lol, and also we arent going to have a DJ or anything, as dinner will start at like 4, and wishes is on at 8, so really we don't have oodles or time....I guess we could have a disco after, but I thought we'd maybe just do drinks or something.....

Are you filling up the WHR? Even if there's not room for a "dance floor," you still should have room for your dance unless it's packed to the gills. We had our reception at Narcoossee's with no dance floor. We're not amazing dancers, so we only needed a little bit of room in front of our sweet heart table to do our thing.

After Major Domo introduced us, we went right into the first dance. The meal was afterward. I would do it like that, so you guests don't have to follow you outside.

You could bring and Ipod and speakers with you to play your song, and set it up to play some soft music in the background during eating.

Our pre-reception is on the patio and our reception is in the Whitehall Room. We are using the Ipod set up for music and it is going to be set up with speakers outside and inside. When we join the pre-reception after we are done with pictures we are going to be announced and do our first dance, father/daughter dance, and mother/son dance. There will be no other dancing at my reception because the people we are inviting are really not dancing people but these are traditional dances we really want to have. (Plus with 50 guests there isn't a lot of room for dancing in the whitehall room and patio.)

Thank you everyone. :)

We are going to do the iPod thing as our music anyway, so it's great to hear that you guys have dance too, when you aren't having a Disco! :)

Now I need to decide what to do with everyone after the Dessert Party.....maybe we should get the WR set up with some music for a couple of hours? I just don't know......

Hi Torsie!

We weren't going to have a DJ due to a small amount of guests, probably like you - I think we'll have around 14 who have said definitely and just 8-9 more who have said maybe. But, I really want to be introduced at the reception, have the speeches flow, have Donald introduced, our first dance, cake cutting, and have Be Our Guest play as the sorbets come out. I don't think I could be bothered with setting up our iPod on the day of, or try and get someone else to take care of it. But then again, I'm also worried that the DJ will be playing and no one will be dancing... decisions!

We are also going to have a break after reception and before dessert party as it will be so hot and it'll be nice to have a few hours with DF.

Thank you everyone. :)

If your planner gives you any ideas let me know!! I want to continue the party after the fireworks too and would prefer to do our first dance then. We don't want to have to meet food and beverage minimums again so if they offer you a good alternative please let me know:worship:
