I am just beside myself!

Ted and I just booked our wedding at Cypress Gardens just three weeks ago. We awoke this morning to the news that Cypress Gardens is closing on SUNDAY!!

Wedding is off!!! (for now!) What a disaster. Nobody is available at Cypress Gardens... they took their website down and arent answering their phones.

It appears we've lost the deposit and have to start at square one again! The problem is, we can't return to FLA until September.... which doesn't leave us much time to book a wedding (6 months out) We'll have to change the date and everything! What a mess!!!!!!

We definitely want to get married in Florida... any ideas in the Central Fla area?? We have ruled out a Disney Wedding... We're not willing to spend that much for 10 guests!

Sorry to hear this Ted & Holly. I was shocked and suprised when I heard the news of them closing last night. I know that in St Petersburg there is Sunken Gardens. They were going downhill too but the city has spent alot of money to renovate it. I have not been there in a long time but I have drove past it a few times and you can tell that they are improving it. Like I said, I dont know how pretty the park is and such but that is the only place that I could think of.

Sorry I can't help with any alternatives in Florida, but just wanted to say what a lousy break and wanted to wish you luck in rebooking. I remember what a nightmare it can all be. Try to keep your sense of humor - you may actually laugh about this SOME day!

I'm with Donald's daisy.......bok tower is awesome...very nice choice for a wedding.

There's also a nice gazebo/community center in Kissimmee on Lake Tohopekaliga. My mom got married there in 1987, and they've put a lot more work into that area since then. Check it out.

You'd prolly have to book it through the City of Kissimmee Parks & Rec department.

I was saddened to hear of the closing of Cypress Gardens also. Hope you find a place soon. Don't leave out other Places like St. Augustine, and Daytona Beach.

So sorry to hear what happened with Cypress Gardens. I know how disappointed you both must be.

A Disney wedding does not have to be an expensive one as in their Wedding Chapel with all the trimmings. You can arrange a wedding to fit your budget. I have seen many held on a balcony off the lobby of the Grand Floridian, on a hill outside the Poly and in a gazebo outside the Yacht Club with a small reception held afterwards. All very lovely in beautiful settings.

I won't forget the East Coast also... I bought a Bride Magazine when we were in Fla in Feb..... it has a lot of advertisements for local places.... I'll begin there.

I'm trying to look at the bright side! I feel so bad for the Cypress Gardens brides who had weddings scheduled in the next month or two. Can you imagine??? At least we're a year out. Now I'm glad we decided to take so much time!

Depending on what your deposit was, I would consider asking an attoney to write them a letter. An attorney shouldn;t charge you too much to write to them.

I am so sorry to hear this Holly... but I admit I am relieved to know you didn't call off the wedding all together. Best of luck in the planning again and if I were you, I'd be trying very hard to get my deposit back since you weren't the one to back out of the agreement. Good luck
