Something Borrowed, Something Blue?

If so, what were yours? I'll post mine later. :)

Something Old... Signifies a sense of continuity, tradition and represents the link to the bride's old life and her family. Many brides would wear their mother's wedding gown or family jewelry.

Something New... Signifies hope for the future. The bridal gown can be used here, if it is purchased new - or any other new item purchased as part of the bridal attire.

Something Borrowed... You're suppose to borrow something from a friend who is happily married. Their happiness will wear off on you and bring you happiness too! Brides can borrow Jewelry or a special handkerchief from a family member or close friend.

Something Blue... Signifies fidelity, purity and love. This is why you see so many garters with blue ribbon or detailing!

Borrowed: Diamond drop earrings from my mom.

Blue: My garters. Yes, I had 2, one on each leg. It was just in case the band leader got smart with us and challenged my husband to take it up one leg and down the other! :hyper: We heard this gag at 2 other weddings and thought it would be fun to put one over on the emcee. Unfortunately, he never challenged us. Oh, well....best to be prepared!!!

I also had a penny in my shoe for good luck.

Old was a penny that DH had given me when we were dating. He tossed it in my lap and said "A penny for your thoughts". I'd kept that penny for several years. In fact, I still have it.

New was my dress, veil, and wax-dipped bouquet from our friends in Mexico. It is lovely and I still have it 20 years later.

Borrowed and blue was my mother's garter. I wore it on one leg and my throw away garter on the other.

Old - I carried my mom's Bible she was given when she was 16.
New - my skirt and jacket
Borrowed - my shoes
Blue - a ribbon in the Bible and the tie-dye t-shirt I had on underneath!!

Something Old: A hanky that was my baptism bonnet. I stuck it in my garter.

Something New: Dress, shoes, veil, etc

Something Borrowed: I borrowed the pearl and diamond bracelet I gave my mom for her 50th birthday.

Something Blue: My garter.

I actually followed this and also maintained a theme of all jewlery...

Mine was a pair of earrings that I worked an entire summer for in high school (platinum and diamonds). It was something I worked very hard for and absolutely love.

Something New... Signifies hope for the future. The bridal gown can be used here, if it is purchased new - or any other new item purchased as part of the bridal attire.

A diamond necklace (similar looking to the earrings) that my husband bought for me. The actual name of it is "snowgirl" and for us, it is the hope of snow in our relationship... long story, but snow brought us together.

My grandmother's engagement ring. She didn't wear it for years because she didn't know you could resize rings. Now she wears it because I told her about it. Plus it is an amazingly beautiful piece of jewlery.

Something Blue... Signifies fidelity, purity and love. This is why you see so many garters with blue ribbon or detailing!

My sorority pin... which has sapphires in it. I thought it was a nice connection between fidelity in two often unrelated things that both shape the person you are.

Sorry that was so wordy, but it all meant a lot to me and I wanted to explain.
