Some friends of mine were thinking of coming here to Orlando to visit me from San Francisco. Since they are engaged and thinking of making plans for a destination wedding at Disney and fussing about working out the details, I suggested that they consider the possibility of a Universal Studios wedding because getting the dates that they would prefer might be easier.

Has anyone here had their wedding at Universal Studios? What were you experiences? I know nothing about theme park weddings as I went to Reno from California and returned home to California married the very next day.

I'll bet that there are many beautiful spots in all 3 resorts, and all 3 have great restaurants to eat at or cater for you. Good luck, and keep us posted!

I've seen beautiful weddings around the Portofino when I've stayed there. I would kill to have my wedding at Universal.

There are some great wedding locations in the parks and the hotels. We have investigated it and unfortunately decided it was beyond the budget but were extremely impressed with their offerings in the website posted above.

At some point I would love to "remarry" my DH.....maybe a renewing of vows ceremony.

I would do it anywhere in UOR......so many lovely spots.....and it would not be anywhere near the expense of a full wedding.

It`s our 20 year wedding anniversary this year.........and I did think about it, but DH said maybe do something like that for our 25th.

I hope they do like the idea and find somewhere perfect for them.

Our daughter is getting married in the fall and we looked at it for her. She had seen pictures of a space in Port of Entry that looked really cool.

That would be lovely, especially for photo ops.

I love my wedding pics......but they are very traditional.......although you can see in some of them I`m trying so hard not to giggle, so they`re not dull pics at all......but I imagine if they had been taken in UOR they would be so much more colorful and fun.

I hope your daughter gets somewhere special for hers.

Oh, thank you. I will tell Bruce and Katherine about this.

They are not really traditional people, but they both love to dress up. We used to go to Halloween in the Castro together while I lived in San Francisco. Those two were really creative with their costumes so I thought that maybe they should make Halloween Horror Nights part of their celebration for their destination wedding. Katherine would go for it because she is talking about wearing an old-fashioned black widow's gown for her wedding.

I am thinking that they should try for a September wedding since I saw while working at Universal that the crowds were thinner in September, and yet the haunted houses were set up soon after Labor Day. They are planning to invite about 600 people to their wedding so it would not be a good idea to hold it over the summer or during Christmas vacation while the crowds are already thick and the rooms probably booked up.

We do!!! They've been dating for a very long time, so he already feels like part of the family.

You're not kidding! I downloaded the wedding info (renewal thoughts)...115 pp based on 100 people? WOW.

That's about par for the course as far as price goes at a large resort type location or upscale hotel.

Ya, that is very normal---perhaps even low. It was all the other costs that you have to add in when you do a destination wedding that total up.

Gotta admit I was adding on an extra zero there!

Got a math minor, took the insane Linear Algebra course, but never learned the quick way to multiply something like 100x100. :)

Our wedding was at a place where it was under $30 pp. And we didn't even have 100 guests. :3dglasses

We are figuring $200/person. But that includes pretty much everything except dress and rings.

I don't know what the going rate is for weddings, but my father was ordained so I used to cater funerals with my mother because we had a large number of elderly people in the congregation. Statistically people eat more at funerals than they do at weddings. Perhaps it iis that whole "Eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow you may die" cliche going through the diners heads at a funeral. I don't know whether that is true either, but I do know that Bruce and Katherine are much loved. I would be willing to make a contribution to the cost of their wedding too because they are such neat people whom I would love to see happy.
