Hiya
My friend is planning to have a wedding at Disney world...so i thought i'd ask you guys for some advice for her.
We've heard that you can get married infront of the castle... does that still happen?..which must be alot of money!...as that's what she really wants!..and she also wanted a reception at magic kingdom, but i've heard that dosn't happen anymore. Is there anywhere where else you could suggest?..that is a kinda theme park related reception rather than a hotel?.
Thanks

I'm almost postitive that the cost starts at $500,000 now.

I thought it was $50,000. If it's $500,000 then :faint: :scared: I'm sorry, but you'd have to be insane to spend that just for the location no matter how much money you had! :teeth:

There was a thread a month ago that announced that they had increased the price to 1/2 million. The speculation is that they want to nip MK weddings in the bud.

I have heard both numbers. I would call DFTW to determine what the price would be. You do not get to pick your wedding date, and you are right that there is no reception at MK. MK no longer has a catering kitchen. Hope that this helps!

def. call you never know right. But i also have heard both numbers. there website has shown both 50k and 500k...big difference. But still check

When we were looking into a FTW back in 98, the price was $50,000 and all that included was the castle for your backdrop.

We had our reception at the California Grill overlooking the Magic Kingdom. Now, granted, that was almost five years ago and I don't know if they do that anymore. We chose that because we wanted something different instead of the typical ballroom setting. Everyone loved it and they still talk about it to this day.

The only problem is that you had to have your reception over by 4PM. So we were married at 10AM on a Friday and then had the reception immediately following. We had a dessert party in the evening at EPCOT to give guests something to do later in the day.

$500,000 wow!!...i think i might have to suggest somewhere else to get married in Disney!.lol...thanks for your help! :)

I asked my planner at DFTW two weeks ago what the minimum is and she says they are not planning any MK weddings

I was considering California Grill for my reception too. Why did yours have to end before 4:00? Was it because you were doing a morning thing and it would cost more to have it later, or is that a standard CG requirement? If it's the latter, that stinks because I was thinking it would be cool to be able to go out and watch Wishes after dinner.

If you rent out the restaraunt part of California Grill then you have to be out by 4 PM so that they can serve dinner. I think the wishbook said it seats 130. Or you can rent the Napa room which also overlooks the Magic Kingdom. It only seats 50 and that's without a dance floor. But they also have the Sonoma room which seats 30 but it overlooks a lake and not the MK. I'm not sure if they're connected though. HTH! :goodvibes

PS- SRUAlmn I love when you post cause I get to see that cute puppy of yours :sunny:

Aw! Thanks so much for loving my puppy! I love her too

So renting out the actual restaurant part of CG is what you have to be out of by 4:00, if you use the Napa or Sonoma rooms you don't have to leave by 4:00? Is that right? Anyone know if you can get to the balcony overlooking the MK from the Napa room?

I just had my site visit and asked about that. I was told there are very few dates and it is a complete park buyout for $500,000, but no reception there. Supposedly they want to do something after the Brides wedding in february for magic kingdom weddings again.

That sounds right (with my old information anyway)! We thought it would be cool to see the fireworks, too, that's why we compromised and had the dessert party at EPCOT so that our guests could watch Illuminations.

You should be able to get to the balcony from the Napa room...you have to walk right by the Napa Room to get to the balcony.
