DH and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary whilst we are away. Should I mention this to the check-in staff in a hope of a room upgrade ?and would we need to show any proof of our wedding to confirm the date ?

we too are celebrating our wedding anniversary whilst at wdw.
im not sure you d get an upgrade, never hurts to ask;)
i know there has been posts about champagne and free desserts, but im not expecting anything, i am ordering dh a cake, and we ll make our own magic, if wdw offer anything els,e then bring it on:goodvibes
tracy

Dont forgot to get badges when you enter MK to show that you are celebrating something:thumbsup2

We have celebrated our anniversary at Disney World twice and at Disneyland. Last year at WDW we did recieve a room upgrade (we didn't ask for it), we had an anniversary card in our room on the 2nd night with 2 towel animals on the bed, we recieved a free glass of champagne each and a small cake at California Grill (they boxed the cake for us), a free glass of wine each at Yachtsmans Steakhouse, a small cake and a card at Boma, a free desert and the staff singing to us at Sanaa and a card and special decorations on the table at the Crystal Palace character breakfast in the MK. We had our anniversary noted on our reservation but beyond that we did not tell servers about this when checking into the restaurants. We did not ask for any of those things, nor did we expect anything, but it was all appreciated and very nice.

We got free upgrade at AKL when we were not celebrating anything but didn't when we added our aniversary to our reservation last year at OKW. They will upgrade if they have rooms to do it not because its your anniversary.
We got a card in our room but really its a way of giving you a photopass card to use and pay for.
We also got a card & cup cake in Crystal Palace and 2 glasses of champagne in Turf Club Bar & Grill.

Definitely mention it, :) Won't do you any harm. If you're staying at a WDW resort then give them a ring ahead and add a celebration to your stay, the room allocations are done a few days before so it gives you that little extra bit of chance if it's on there.

Congratulations and have a lovely trip.

I agree that you should mention it. As stated above, you won't get an upgrade if there aren't available rooms for your duration of stay, so be sure to book a room you are happy with and take anything else offered as a bonus. But you never know, you could find a bit of extra pixie dust at the front of the check in line. Here's hoping for you. :goodvibes

Definately mention it as everyone says it couldnt do any harm. We got our anniversary pins and wore then and at all of our ADRs we where given an extra free dessert which was a nice little touch. We also got table mickey sprinkles which where a nice little touch.

Also one day I went over to purchase some pop corn and got a free tub "from mickey" the lady behind the counter I was stunned and thought it was really sweet.

Hope you have an excellent anniversary

Im not sure when youre going but when we made our ADR's it was noted on them. sometimes we got personalised menus, sometimes free dessets or free sparkling wine. If youre staying at a Disney hotel they have badges at the reception too. :thumbsup2
obviously dont expect anything. I know theres loads on the restaurant boards that moan when they dont get the extras, that others sometimes get.
Like others have said, make your own magic. If Disney adds to that even better :)
Have a great time.xx:goodvibes

It was our anniversary last year and we got a few treats: an upgrade to a lake-view room at CSR, a complimentary champagne toast at the CSR bar, heart-shaped sprinkles at TS restaurants, a few complimentary desserts and a couple of cards. :)

Waaaaay too much information

We had our last anniversary over there and, as I recall, when DW was making our reservation for breakfast at CP the CM asked if it was a special occassion. We got the confetti on the table, a card and a celebration muffin and wore our badges for that day. We were taken aback by just how many of the CMs wished us a Happy Anniversary but it made the day even more special for us.
I think the best thing to do is to mention it when you speak to someone - preferably prior to going - and just hope for the best. As has been said if they have the rooms available you may get an upgrade. I will keep my fingers crossed for you - especially as Dizzy will be sharing the room with you :thumbsup2

:lmao: Never usually think like that but you got me too :rotfl:

We have our wedding anniversary on the Tuesday and my birthday on the Wednesday! Can't wait. :yay:
