Yes, and the only way to renew is to buy another Webkinz animal and get another code. So yes, in a way we ARE paying a yearly fee.

When you buy the other Webkinz to renew for another year, do you still get to keep your animal and "stuff" that is expiring??? My daughter will be very upset if she can't keep everything she has bought and the animal itself.

Yes, your new pet and its room are added to your account and the expiration date for everything (old and new) in the account becomes one year from the date the new webkinz is added.
