I know I should just let this go and just be happy that I received my webcertificate but I just can't let this go by without venting.
I went to the Disney Store in Staten Island today and spoke with a male manager who was a complete jerk! I tried to get Disney Dollars with a print out of my web certificate (WHICH I'VE DONE BEFORE THERE) and he simply would not let me do it. He wouldn't even call it in even after I've told him I've done it before.
He had the attitude of "if I've never heard of it, it cannot be possible". Gee, I wonder when he was appointed Walt Disney

I know I could have simply gotten the plastic card but he was just rude! He told me it was not Disney policy to make a charge without a card. Well a cast member broke the policy by ringing it through once before.
I hope I dont get flamed for this I just wanted to vent a little to my reward friends. Ahhh, I feel better now. Maybe I'll just buy a Yankee Candle gift card with my web certificate and not even let Disney have my money.

Ive done this 6 times (taking in the printout) usually the CM are pretty good with alittle explaining they'll put it through.

I have 3 TDS all within 30minutes from me so Ive noticed the Mayfair Mall store is great with these. Southridge on the other hand insisits on having the plastic card. I tend to go to Mayfair now.

Although the last time the CM called the automated CM # just to verify the account well it gave her an authorzation # so by doing that it took the money from the account right away so when she rang the $DD through it declined since there was no money on the card!!! She didn't know how to override it either so the next day the head manger called and said if I come back in he would overide it and give me my $DD I knew it would work out but it was alittle work but still not enough to break down and buy the plastic card I suppose on of these days I'll have to!!!

If you use the printout to order a gift card from DisneyStore.com, you can use the gift card to purchase the DD. If they won't do it in Staten Island, they definitely will in Newport Centre in Jersey City. I get 'em all the time that way. It avoids the whole webcertificate number in the store thing.

Some people are nice, some are unreasonable - but the JC store is always nice.

with you about the managers at the SI Disney Store. We had so much trouble with some of them during the 100 YoD pin fiasco. They really can be rude. I very rarely go into that store because of them. I usually go to the store in Freehold, NJ. I'm glad I got the plastic card when I got my first WC. It's so much easier.

Freehold Raceway Mall does have a good Disney Store. When I visit my Mom I go there.

The people in Newport in Jersey City used to be blah but they have a whole new crew in there, and they're great.

As a general rule I stay out of the Staten Island Mall because of poor customer service in many of the stores - and it's extremely close to me. Oh well, live and learn.

As a life-long Staten Islander, I avoid the Staten Island Mall whenever possible. I only go there when there's absolutely no way I can get over to Jersey to go shopping. It's horrible! Between the customers and the help in the stores, I don't know who's more rude and ignorant!!!

Thanks for sympathy everyone. I'm still a little annoyed about it but I am trying to get over the rudeness.
I even spoke to a webcertificate rep because I was going to buy the plastic card and she was surprised that I had such a hard time since I've done it before there.
They really lost money twice by turning me down. First the store lost out and now Disney World lost out and I told the manager that. I doubt he even cared.

I was also unable to use the webcertificate to purchase Disney Dollars at the Bridgewater Commons Mall, in NJ. They weren't rude, but they still would not let me purchase without a plastic card. What I did was to use the webcertificate and I called the Disney Catalog # and ordered a gift card. Today I am going to the Woodbridge Mall store (lots of Staten Islanders go there) and see if I can purchase Disney Dollars with it. Some have been able to get them with a g/c and some not....we'll see what happens.

According to the Manager at Newport in Jersey City, you can use the Gift Card to purchase the DD, but you can't use a merchandise credit to purchase them. If Woodbridge gives you a hard time, tell them that. Otherwise, bite the bullet, come across the bayonne bridge, and go to Jersey City :jester: . It's not as bad as you think, lol.

My long ordeal of trying to covert MyPoints to Disney Dollars is finally over with a successful ending! This morning I was able to purchage 25 D$ with the gift card! Hip hip, hooray! (But, I won't be doing it again any time soon!)

I'm sorry you felt wronged by the TDS and the use of your print out of your webbies.

It is ignorance of the webcertificate program that is causing the confusion. I'm sure if someone presented a printout like this in the department store where I am employed, questions would be asked before the clerk would use it for payment towards a purchase. The possibility exists that that form of payment could be refused anywhere, not just at TDS.

Coming from the retail world, I do not think the managers are out of line, by not accepting your printout. If I was behind the counter I would be skeptical too and would probably refuse to accept anything other than a card.

Does the printout state that it can be used within a "Brick and mortar" store or online only? Difference being, online doesn't know whether you have a plastic card in front of you. If you only need to buy a card once, why not spend the few $ and continue adding to it?

Similarly, the coupons available online from say Cool Savings or Smart source, are not acepted at some retailers due to misuse and counterfeits.

I have had a bad time over the last few days trying to convert my web cert to a disney gc. I typed everything in one evening and my transaction came back denied. I tried again right away, and it was denied again. A day or two later i checked my account on the web cert site, and had 2 one dollar transaction fees.WHAT? I called customer service Monday, and they said that was a fee because the ds tried to take out 53.50 and my webbie was only for 50.00. I called the disney number and the man that was trying to help me could not understand why. We decided to do a 25$ card and it went right through. I got on my account site again and it had 26.38 PENDING. I called web customer service, and she said since it was pending, it would be straightened out when the charge really went through...that evenig. WELL.....today it was still 26.38. I called ds customer service. The rep nicely said I was only charged 25$. I said no I was not, and the CS rep from the web place said sometimes restaurants authorize more than the real charge needed, and maybe disney had done something like that. She was as confused as I was, and said she did not think so. I suggested she talk to someone in billing. She did and came back and said, the computer adds tax, until the order is filled, then they see it was for a gc (not taxed). The pending over charge would be removed on the30th. I asked how could I ever get the true amount on a gc if they were always going to over authorize and she said print out the webbie and take it to the ds, tell them my horror story and they would probably do it for me..........Anyone else had this happen?
