Hi everyone,

I was finaly ready to buy my giftcard (to turn into DD) via the Disney Store. I ordered my card (during a free shipping time) Immendiately upon clicking on the submit order button, I got a notice that there was not enough money available. Ok, the gift card I ordered was $150, the total was $150 and I had $150 on my webcertificate.

Now, when I got to check my webcertificate amount there is a $1 charge for a pending Disney Store Transaction.

The Disney store does not have a record of my order and the $1 is not showing up in their system, but I only have $149 in my webcertificate account now and it has been like that since 1/14.

I am assuming that I needed at least $151 on my webcertificate in order to have this transaction to go through.

Now the really bad part is now the free shipping is over and they want way too much money for shipping to send a gift card.

Any suggestions? My Disney store will not accept a webcertificate number without the card. We leave in 15 days. What to do, what to do?

**** Ok, what I did is called CRO and asked if I could just put $149 on my account. They said no problem. I guess I will work on the $1 later. I still have a webcertificate pending, so I will just use it as a starter for later.

Thank you guys for helping! I will let you know if it works. I don't get the mypoints points for buying via the Disney store, but at least the money is on the account (keeping fingers crossed)

Were you trying to but a Disney Store gift card to turn into Disney Dollars? If so, DD can't be purchased with a gift card so you are better off not having your transaction go through. Others on this board have gone to the Store Manager at their local DS and asked them to put the transaction through using the certificate and have had success. In my opinion, this type of transaction is going to become more and more popular and the DS needs to get with the program.

Hi there - I had the exact same situation. Here's my story....

Had a $25 Webbie trying to buy a $25 DS gift card online (no shipping, no tax). Same scenario - I go to check out, and it says "sorry, not enough credit".

Check back with Webcertificate.com, and find the missing $1.

Now, I'm on the phone with the Webbie folks, and the guy is really nice- says to try again. Now, he sees exactly what's up:

* The $1 is a generally-accepted means of "handshaking" between the two credit computer systems (DS and Webcertificate) to make sure you supplied a valid, open account. I guess the thinking is that $1 isn't going to make/break anybody during the course of one transaction, and it gets released when the transaction is finalized.
* But wait... there's more. The Disney Store also automatically adds on an "estimated shipping charge" ($2.50 in my case), even if there's free shipping.

So, the transaction that was trying to be authorized was for $28.50, not $25!

The guy now says, wait a sec ... he temporarily grants me an extra $3.50, says try again - WE HAVE A WINNER! Then, he backed the extra credit out, no problem.

Bottom line - have your computer dialed in to the Disneystore , and get on the cell phone with Webcertificate. If you're really nice (!), they'll help you out.

Au contraire.

DD$ can't be purchased with *promotional gift cards*, like those that come with prepurchases, purchases of $50 or so, etc. Those cards say they're not valid for passes, other GC, or other non-merchandise items.

This kind of GC is a valid form of payment, just like any other credit card or cash. Local manager went "backstage" to check policy, and found no problem. That's how I got $25 in DD with the gift card.. with the Webcertificate.

But, I think I recall some having trouble with it. Nicely pressing the issue never hurts.

LetsbGoofy,

Ok, here is the wierd thing. My store WILL let you purchase DD with a gift card. The have no problem with that. I did it a couple of weeks ago, same time I tried to use the webcertificate number.

Even the manager will not accept the webcertificate number without having the actual card. I have already tried that. But thank you. :D

Dad of 5,

That is a great idea. I just have to go to the store today and see if they have any cat. with free shipping. The Disney Store wants $13 to ship a gift card. Ummm NO! I will see if they have any cat. and see what I can do. Great advise. I am glad to see I am not alone.

Leila33,

Your store must not be up on their SOPs. I worked at our DS for 7 years (just quit in September) and I know that buying DD with a regular GC is against company policy. Bad news for them (if they get audited), great news for you!!

I work for TDS, and we have combed through the SOPs with a fine-toothed comb, and nowhere does it say that DD cannot be purchased with a non-promotional gift card. SM called DM saying that there was nothing in the gift card SOPs and she said it was fine to purchase DD with gift cards. So we let our guests purchase DD with gift cards.

I agree that TDS needs to put something more specific in the SOPs, but until we are told no we will continue to let guests do that. Some of the CMs use gift cards to buy DD too, and I always print out my webbies and buy DD.

doing just that (printing the account page) only once I had a CM say she needed the plastic card so I just went to another DS

Ive done this 4 times already (5th time in just a couple of days !)

All 4 times I left with $DD in my hot little hand!!

Good luck and if you have any ?S just let me know

Ok, now I'm having major problems. I tried to redeem the webbie online through the DS and had the same $1 missing. So I decided that I would deal with it later. Now when I look at my account for my webbie, it shows only a balance of $24 with a $1 pending DS transaction...even though I didn't checkout at the DS website.

What should I do?

Thanks in advance!

I must have the meanest DS castmembers around. I tried to purchase DD with a giftcard (not a promotional one) and they acted like I was trying to steal something. Then, when I realized that I was getting nowhere with the giftcard, and tried to purchase hoppers with a check, the CM got nasty with me and said, "That will br $xxxx.xx ( I have forgotten the amount now) - you do have cash, don't you?" Like I was going to try to steal those also. I said, "nope, but I assume you can figure out how to take a check?" Really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Sorry, but I just had to chuckle when I read this!! :p:p

Okay, I have to ask the obvious... why not just buy the plastic card? I bought mine a couple of years ago and have NEVER had any of these headaches. Once a year I go into the DS to purchase my Disney Dollars....

I have almost asked this question a dozen times - I'm glad I'm not the only one that had this thought!!

I take my card into TDS, and it is never a problem - boom! I've got my Disney Dollars. It was well worth the purchase price to not have to worry about it or to go to a different store.

I got my Webcertificate Plastic card back when FreeRide was in its heyday. They offered the card loaded it with $10 for a fee that amounted something close to $15 in points.

It's been replaced once since then. I think it was when Webcertificates had been hacked and they changed everyone's account numbers as a precaution. They replaced the card for free that time.

I just checked their website and a plastic card costs $6.95 and it is a one-time fee. For that price, I think it would be worth spending the money and saving myself the hassle. Not only could you then use it to buy Disney Dollars, you could just take it along on vacation and use it to pay for anything anywhere in or outside of the World, as long as they take MasterCard.

it takes so long to build up emough points to cover the $6.95 charge for the plastic card that Id rather take my chance going to a DS to have the card ran manually plus the fact you can use it (without having the plastic card) when you make an order over the phone. hotel ressies, catalog ordering or anyplace where they ask for an account #

just my opinion though

whatever workd for you

Yep, $6.95. I charged the fee to another credit card, and I'm done. We used it on our last trip for the trip down - meals, hotel for the overnight on the way down, etc.
