Hello everyone my husband is scared about going to Florida in August for our disney trip (finally) we are from Canada and I told him it sprinkles a little every day there. But he's worried about hurricanes, I told him there's ushally one every year in Florida somewhere, and is it safe in August?

I'd be more worried about the heat in August than the hurricanes. Only because the heat is guaranteed lol and hurricanes just a maybe. They also do get way more than a sprinkle, the rain we've had there is more like downpour but they don't usually last long.

We are also Canadian and travel to Disney in August. I would say 'sprinkle' is conservative as most days in August and September it will rain briefly but heavily in the afternoon. Normally the rain is in the form of a thunderstorm with lots of thunder and lightning. Hurricanes are a possibility although Orlando doesn't usually get hit too hard and when they do, Disney handles it very well. In 10 years we've only had one trip cancelled due to a hurricane.

As @juxtapose said, possibly a bigger challenge is the melt-your-face-off heat that is Disney in August. Imagine those rare, hot, humid days at home where you walk outside and it almost affects your breathing. That is WDW in August from morning to night. If you can handle that, you're fine. We're good with heat and just take breaks as we need them and drink a lot of water.

It's going to be hotter than the surface of the sun, it's going to rain every day at some point. The rain might be a quick afternoon shower that will last about 15 minutes to a monsoon to a light rain all day but it will rain. After it rains, it will be like walking on the surface of the sun through a swamp. If a hurricane does hit the coast, the impact on Disney will be fairly light. It will be windy, it will rain and they might close down the parks for one day. If they do, they take very good care of you in the resorts. Take rain gear, wear shoes that can get wet, take a water bottle - you can get free water in every QS location in every park, splash in the puddles and have fun. As for the splash in the puddles part, MK is pretty bad about flooding, I've sloshed through water well above my ankles. As long as you are prepared with rain gear every day and know it's going to be hotter than you can imagine, you will be fine. I'm from Georgia and even for me, it's hot. I go often in August but I always take a mid-afternoon break in my room then head out to a different park after the break.

I hate to be doomsday, but hurricane season starts June 1st so anything is possible. Summer of '21 we had hurricane stuff over 4th of July.

Honestly end of August into Sept I think you are running more increased odds of a hurricane, but who really knows.
