It'll be my first DVC trip to WDW in a couple of weeks and I heard there is rain, rain and more rain going on there right now. I know this question isn't DVC related but what do you all wear as far as footwear? I can't imagine that shoes are comfortable when it's hot and humid. And I didn't want to pack rainboots. I've heard people suggest Crocs and my son loves his but do they get slippery when wet? Sorry...we're from SoCal so we're unfamiliar with Orlando weather.

Breathable sneakers are best, crocks are acceptable, rain boots are never a good, unless you are 3yo

Rain is an occasional thing as it can rain for 10 mins around 2pm and then be blue sky

I recommend avoiding sneakers as soggy feet are miserable, & they take forever to dry out. I wear Tevas (waterproof athletic sandals). Makes a huge difference touring in & after rain when you don't have to worry about getting your feet wet.

I also recommend not wearing denim clothing, which also takes a long time to dry & tends to be uncomfortable when wet.

In my experience, the summer rains in Orlando can last anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours each afternoon/evening. Lightning can be an issue for much longer than that & can keep a lot of rides/pools shut down if you're unlucky. When touring, try to hit your must-do outdoor rides in the morning, to reduce the chance of weather keeping you off your favorite rides.

Lightning can be an issue for much longer than that & can keep a lot of rides/pools shut down if you're unlucky. When touring, try to hit your must-do outdoor rides in the morning, to reduce the chance of weather keeping you off your favorite rides.

My fastpasses for Pandora and Everest are in the afternoon. :-( I hope we get lucky with the weather and that it is kind to us.

Better chance than not that you'll be fine. It's not raining more often than it's raining.

First let me say - I live here. About 80 miles west of WDW and yes, we are getting lots of rain. Summer is rainy season in this subtropical paradise. BUT it is not typical for us to receive all day rains like we are having right now. June is kind of a mix bag with the exception being the last 2 Junes. It normally rains a lot in the AM and day time in early June then kind of switches to the afternoon daily T-storm activity in late June and through the rest of the summer (including Sept). Count on it raining at least 30 min per day and typically in the afternoon between 3-6.
Crocs or any weather proofing shoes will work or just bring extra socks. Lots of people do this. Lots of people also plan late day breaks back at where ever they are staying to avoid the rain as much as possible. Bring ponchos with you as they are outrageously expensive in the World. Plan indoor activities later in the day to avoid the heat and rain storms.
Check the weather before you leave and if you see a 50% rain chance on any day that does not mean the day is shot. It just means there is a 50% chance of some rain some where in the local area. It's normal.

Thank you for the information. This helps me feel better that our trip will be OK. It will be my son's 1st time to WDW. I guess California weather is boring compared to Florida weather.

We got 12.5 inches yesterday in SW Florida. Plan on rain for a while.
