Hi, I'm going to wdw on Tuesday for 2 weeks and every long range weather forecast say rain everyday. Do you get any sunshine inbetween:(. And what impact will all the bad weather have on the parks.:confused3

Depressed!!!!!!!

hi im also off on thursday, its forcast for rain and thunder the week we are there, we went the same time last year it was way haot with rain for an hour in the afternoon typical florida weather that was ok - seems like its been raining non stop tho this time... water rides and outdor rides will be closed off, you wont be aloud in the pool or water parks, and night time entertainment like fireworks can get cancelled.. im hoping that the weather does change

its upset me a bit actualy as i just spent alot on a new shrts, t-shirts etc which now im going to have to hunt the recipts for and replace for winter clothes, as well as suncream/aftersun wont be needing that now. this is the last time i will be coming to florida next time ill stick to spain.
IOA tickets will be unusable - most of the rides will be closed same with wet n wild so im left with universal studios. your going for 2 weeks it does look like there are some sun days in week 2

Not noticed much impact on rides related to weather at WDW. The parks have only closed a couple of times in their entire history directly related to weather and thats been when hurricanes have passed through. Lots of the attractions at WDW are inside so no real issues related to weather. The water parks will close if thunderstorms are nearby for safety. The only other thing the weather can impact on is the parades, they are sometimes delayed or cancelled due to inclement weather.

I'm here now, given that it's rained our whole trip I'd be amazed if it carried on the next two weeks as well.

In ten days we've seen 5 hours sun, max. The rain is so unpleasant too - really, really heavy all day. If you want to go out, be prepared to get cold and wet.

I'd pack some jackets/hoodies just in case. Honestly, this wather has been totally miserable. Currently sat in a hotel room wondering how the hell to make the most of yet another crappy day.

i dont mean parks close but IOA for example when it rained last time it was open but no rides could run in the rain (which makes it pointless going when the rain is non stop AM & PM) thats what im saying !

Fingers crossed for you both that the weather picks up, If you do decide to go back - October, November are normally very dry months with good weather. June, July and August are some of the wettest months on average.

You will not need winter clothes - it is still in the 80s despite the rain.

I would suggest a showerproof jacket however I would expect the weather to improve however I also expect daily storms.

The rides do not close due to rain.

We have been on them like drowned rats, when there was over an inch of water to wade through to get to them. They are verified for all bar - lighting (for obvious reasons) and temps below 45F - Over winter there are several days when they cannot start running until temps climb, and on a few days are off pretty much all day.

At universal all indoor rides usualy continue in a thunder storm, unless so bad that there are power outages, or tornado warings, and you will know that if it happens daylight to darkness in mins and I can assure you that a ride will be the last thing on your mind.

I know its bad when the weather is not what you want (camping in france last july- uggh) but you have to try and make the most of it.

Try going to unusal places for diners- Sci fi, san angelos, trex, rainforest and sanna are good for kids and tepan edo ragglan rd, bongo for older teens. also do disney quest and tour some delux hotels esp animal kindom as they can animal spot from inside or at sanna's

At universal older teens/young adults can chill out at margaretaviles and a must do for this age is the back tour of the hard rock cafe - free (but we gave good tips as the guide was great and the 1.5hr tour was the highlight of my eldest dd holiday).

Go into to the parks in a very light outfit, incl flip flops do the water rides then change into dry clothes at nearest piont to show or resturant you plan to visit. (take ziploc bags for the wet stuff) then do some indoor shows - lion king, nemo, beauty, and drawing with an imagineer, follow that with the indoor rides, then back into the wet stuff to redo water rides- we have gotten to stay on time and time again in weather like that- then its back into the dry stuff - on really bad days take 2 sets of dry, one for the journey home.

To those not there yet, do not go already down about it as that will set the tone for your hols- start working on wet day plans- I'm in the same boat as we are due to go the end on of june- but there is no way some water is ruining my trip - I am pulling together my wet day plans and packing water proofs! :cheer2:
Hope you manage to conjur up some fun even if its in the rain

oops forgot - always take a few very small hand towels (golfy things or those very thin ultra absorbent camping ones) one to dry seats and the others to dry legs when you get inside.

in my experience yes some rides do close because of heavy rain without thats without the thunder !

It's possibility of thunder/lighting that shuts them- they don't wait for an actual strike or for someone to hear the thunder before they close :rotfl:. Disney has quite a meterology thing going on there is both a radius and time formulea which includes wind speeds etc for the closure of rides and water parks.

For anyone whos is interested if you really want to see what weather is likely to be a few weeks out over the summer then the best place is the wunderground tropics forum. Here discussions take place about potential storms and their paths/strenghts. Word of warning ,you have to be using it for quite a few years to get to know which members and just storm hopers and which are the more accurate trackers/forcasters. At the momment there are discussions about a possible development of a TD between the 17-20th june which may/may not head towards Fl (tampa- to panhandle).

OK - I have it from someone who lives in Orlando that the weather is set to get back to normal over the weekend :thumbsup2

Hi guys!! Almost doing the SDD :cool1::dance3: and I was wondering whether the weather had picked up??? We've not had a holiday in 24 months so really, really hoping the sun has finally shown up :wizard:

Don't mind the usual down pouring of rain but weeks of it :scared1: - now I can stay at home for that :rotfl:

That depends on when you are going:eek: A TS has just formed off the coast of Fl- TS Debby - It will be declared at about 9- 10pm on the NHC on web site (not up yet).

The path of this is yet to be clear if it goes east it will impact FL a few models suggest this however most moldels think it will go west, thus less impact for FL.

Should be through by thurs this week at the very very latest. But forcast is still not great until about the 5th/6th july.

Good that will hapen is the parks will be much much quiter.

Thanks for the update, we fly on the 3rd July and have reservations at Discovery Cove on the 5th so fingers & toes crossed that the weather takes a turn for the better!:wizard:

This is DBF 1st visit and I very optimistically promised it to be HOT, HOT, HOT as it was when I was last in Fl in July:eek:

Think I'll be spending the next week intermittently checking weather forecasts :coffee:

We are here now and it is still hot only few degrees cooler than average. It is generally overcast and we have good spells on rain but has not stopped us.

Rain chances are 70% for the next few days falling to 50% by Thursday - the good thing is no storms which means everything has stayed open :goodvibes

Debby has just formed, but forcast is to go away from Fl, however, it's early days and some forcasts are the opposite way.

Just a heads up for you elsise79. Tornado watches have been issued for parts of FL they have been working the way up through Fl from the Key. Expexted to reach Tampa and central FL over the next few hrs (all conected to the Debby). 2 have touched down in the Naples area in the last half hr. The TV will flash a red band along the bottom if a warning is issued near you. (after posting I was able to see how often you have been to wdw- I'm sure you already know the TV stuff and all other info about how to get weather/ tornado info- lol)

I'd rather be in Florida rain and all than stuck here at work:rotfl2:
I hope things pick up for u guys. If u plan for rain then anything else is a bonus. I know it's miserable but it's a lovely place to be miserable :lovestruc
