Weather?

The one thing we can't try to control is the weather! But I have a question for those of you who live near Orlando or visit frequently, etc:

If the forecast shows 60% chance of scattered showers or isolated t-storms...is this anything to worry about? Or is this basically the 20-45 minute showers we can expect each afternoon and then it's gone?

Of course I know you can't tell me for sure what the weather will be...but in general, how would you classify that forecast (60% chance of scattered showers or isolated t-storms) and what would it make you think?

Thanks!

We were there last week. We had a 60% and 70% chance of rain on two of our days, and at least a 30% chance the other days. Most days, we just had a few random showers in the afternoon. One night, there was 70% chance, and it didn't rain at all. The other day, we had some pretty heavy showers on and off from mid-afternoon until about 8pm. I think there was around a 60% chance that day.

So, I think you just never know.

vtwep - we were at EPCOT yesterday and the forecast was 60% scattered showers. While it was overcast and damp all day, we were lucky in that it did not rain until we were leaving at 8:30pm. However, I think that was more luck than anything.

Knowing the forecast was 60% scattered showers, we took rain ponchos and were prepared to get wet or to duck into shops until the rain passed. We also dressed warmer than we would normally. Another thing to consider is that the temperatures don't usually get as high as forecast if it is rainy. The forecast yesterday was a high of 80 degrees, but I doubt it got above 70-72.
Plus we find most attractions and shops to be over air conditioned this time of year. While we normally would wear shorts and tshirts, yesterday we wore pants and brought sweaters with us (which we used in some of the restaurants). We are Floridians, so anything below 70 is cool to me.

I think the difference is if the forecast calls for "scattered showers" vs "thunderstorms" or "isolated thunderstorms". Perhaps someone with more "weather" experience can shed some light on the difference.

Normally, showers are hit or miss. Right now, for instance, we have a 60% chance of rain. It is overcast, but not raining. Later this afternoon, I expect we will see some brief rain.

thanks for the replies and info! Much appreciated. I'll just hope for the best!
