My party and I are heading off to Orlando on Friday (August 31) for 8 days and I've just checked the 10 day forecast and it's saying sunshine and thunderstorms.

I know they've that for the area for last few days too and apparently it's turned out fine. How long have the storms/downpours lastest and how good have the sunny periods been?

I've been there loads of times but some of the people I'm going with are first timers and I don't want them to be all disappointed...

Thanks

We where there 3 weeks July/August, while we had quite a bit of rain , did not realise we had so much till i done my trip report.
I would not worry to much,as you know they clear up quite quickly, and they will have that much fun they will probably not remember the rainy times.

Weather is weather and is totally unpredictable. For the last 3 years we have expected daily thunderstorms and have hardly had any going in July/August. This year we arrived and it was pouring down, the rain continued right into the first day and then for the rest of the holiday only saw one shower that didn't last long. There was a heatwave too.

This time of the year the standard forecast is hot, humid and T-storm. Also remember sometimes it could be raining in one part of Orlando and not necessarily where you are. This has happened to us the last 2 holidays when we have gone in July, we have had a lovely dry day whilst the t-storm hit another part of the area.

Personally I don't think t-storms are that detrimental to the holiday when going in the summer. There have been lots of days when I would have welcomed a heavy downpour just to cool down in the humidity.:)

We're in Orlando at the moment, arrived just over a week ago. We had our first thunderstorm the day before yesterday (Friday) and another one last night. The actual thunderstorm passed quickly - within half an hour - but it drizzled for a couple of hours or so after. We walked from DTD Marketplace to West Side and barely got wet, so it really was a light drizzle.

The rest of the time we've had glorious sunshine! It's been a little too hot for DH, but I certainly haven't been complaining..! :goodvibes

By the way, the thunderstorms are absolutely gorgeous - here is a picture of Saratoga Springs taken from Downtown Disney last night:

Huge relief. Thanks.

Great photo by the way.

We came back on Thursday and had no rain whatsoever for the whole two weeks :thumbsup2

Before we went at the beginning of the month I checked the weather and it said thunderstorms most days but we actually only had 2 thunderstorms so I wouldnt worry. :goodvibes
