Looking at the weather models there is a possible hurricane tracked to hit south Fl on 21st/22nd August. How many of you are down on florida then? A lot of the forecast ther weamodels are prediciting a Hurricane hitting Miami area and travelling up the coastline. How will this impact WDW if it hits S Fl? I feel like the kiss of death to WDW the last time we came over Katrina hit NO and in 2004 we went through the slow moving Frances   :confused3

I dunno, I'm checking the models myself at the moment and as I understand it, it is far too early to tell what that weather system may or may not do. This is one thing you can't control, and IF it does hit, it is something that the Floridians & indeed all the parks are well used to.

I'm not trying to be controversial here, but when over last year, there was a constant weather-watch and drama-type weather news going on all the time. You could turn into a serious worry-wort if you spend your time stressing about this. Considering the weather we've had over the past few months I think that it won't be anything much different to what we've been subjected to over here! :rotfl2:

There's nothing in the local media here about any major storms at all. In fact, we are much hotter and drier than usual, and the storm forecasting office has just downgraded their warning about a large number of storms this year. There may still be hurricane activity later this year, but there is certainly nothing to worry about at the moment :)

I know, you are right!:scared1: Its just that every time WE come to WDW something major happens. The worse thing i ever did was find the NHC website:confused3

We have been in Orlando during Katrine and Francis and there was very minimal damage done to WDW. They are all extremely strong structures and know how to deal with these types of problems.

As has been said the key word is 'possible' in weather predictions nothing is ever certain so best thing is to be prepared but not worried. There will be plenty of warnings, if necessary, unlike natures other events such as earthquakes etc.

Claire ;)

Lisa, so YOU'RE the one to blame for the hurricanes?

Please stay away until approximately January. LOL.

If it helps my friend James told me that on 2 seperate occasions he has booked with Virgin holidays and there have been hurricanes due to hit Orlando during their holiday and so Virgin have just moved their booking back a week ; which I personally think is a really great thing for them to do because lets be honest they could just say "sorry its an 'act of God' we are not liable"
