Weather thread.

It's actually been downright pleasant the past couple of days, with the heat index staying just below 105. And yes, pleasant is a relative term, only in the sense that it's been marginally less brutal for the first time in over a month. That said, it's heading back up over 110 next week, culminating in 118 on Friday. I am so ready for fall!!
It’s actually been drier too. In the evenings or in the shade, it really isn’t too bad.

I'm in South Florida. It was as hot as hades today. I feel guilty I haven't been getting my 5yo outside to play but this heat is dangerous. We've been having too much screentime but HAVE been getting in the pool a lot!

Time to bring out the boardgames? :duck:

Hot, humid, and still pretty bright here, but I'm watching the storms approach via radar on the news.

Hot today....hit 98 where I am in NJ with a heat index of 108. Overall, at least here it's been a pretty typical summer. We've always gotten hot days like this. Tomorrow though we're going to be over 90 with a code orange air quality due to wild fire smoke from Canada. The smoke hasn't been as bad as the few days we had in June, but when we get up around 100+, I get a tickle in my throat and a mild headache so it's unpleasant to be outside.

Overall...anyone paying attention to the big trends....well, it's pretty bleak. I just read about a reef that my DH and I used to dive all of the time in the Florida Keys....Sombrero reef....totally bleached out with "100% mortality rate". So hard to believe...just 20 years ago that reef was positively teeming with life. Now gone. A buoy off the Florida Coast today hit 101 degrees which is just incredible.

It was in the high 90s in my part of New Jersey with a heat index of 105. The next couple of days are going to be awful, but next week we get some relief.
