Weather this week?

We leave in the morning for our first ever WDW trip. I've been watching the weather reports on accuweather almost religiously as I'm super afraid of hurricanes. Being from the midwest, it's not something we've ever had to worry much about. The weather for this weekend and beginning of the week is calling for "heavy thunderstorms". How does this type of weather affect the parks and how should I adjust my "touring strategies" to compensate for heavy rains? We had planned to try to head for MGM Sunday evening after we arrive to catch Fantasmic. Will this likely be a washout? Also, are some parks better than others for rainy days? Do things shut down in the rain and to the crowds thin out? What do you all do in less than ideal weather?

We just got back from 10 days there in a pop up. The first hurricane of the season was then and all it did was knock a couple of smaller trees over and not much else. We're from the midwest too so we were worried about that stuff too. It was no problem but did have a good side effect, some people stayed away from the parks then. That's when you put on your poncho and GO GO GO! When it rained it was nice in the pop up but we are so glad we had the AC in there, and also used the silver emergency blankets on the ends, that made a big difference. After the big rain, it got HOT! But don't forget the poncho, no matter what! Just because it's not raining when you leave for the parks, doesn't mean it won't rain later...lol. We ended up buying more ponchos than we'll need for the rest of our lives! hahaha We're already planning our next trips...lol
