Weather this coming week

Hi all - I have been planning for a year a post-Christmas trip with my kids and mom. We leave tomorrow and stay through Sunday. The weather looks so bleak - cool (to downright cold) in the evening and rain. Any tips for dealing with less than ideal weather? What are the best parks for doing in rain?

Most rides are indoor, I would probably say a safe bet would be DHS. The problem with AK is well all the animals won't be out and it is a very "exposed park" imo, what I mean by that is just very open and not a lot of areas for quick cover. I would say MK could be a potential canidate too but you may miss BTMR if it is too bad outside maybe even possibly Splash? I have been to Epcot in the rain and it was miserable, granted we didn't have a poncho or umbrella so that was our mistake.

In terms of gear I would bring ponchos/umbrellas and warm clothes of course, you don't want to make the mistake of not bringing those and then having to pay extreme prices for those items in the park. All in all from my experience it is nice going to the parks in the rain, it deters most people from going and sometimes you can get on a lot of good rides! (indoor of course)

Rain chances don't look too bad this week but cooler temps for sure. 50's and 60's still look great for us northeast folks.
I think MK is a great place to be in rainy/cool weather. So many indoor ride/show choices. Add a few layers of clothes and it will be a great time!

Hoping the rain/cold on Wednesday keeps people away from MK - it’s open until 2am and I plan to be there right up until then!!

Bring (lots of) extra socks and an extra pair of shoes. It's not bad walking around in soggy shoes when it's hot, but it's miserable in the cold. We've gone a few times in January and at least once a trip, one of us will step in a huge puddle. An extra pair of shoes will give the wet pair time to dry out.

We are going on Friday through Tuesday. Wasn't worried about rain, but I am worried about bring cold. We are from New Orleans and not used to cold... I'm like do I need special cold pants if I'm going to be outside in the cold?

I’m from the Midwest, and hours in the 50’s in the evening this week have made my ears really cold (glad I had a stocking hat) , and I’ve almost wanted gloves.

Layers.

Just for some words of encouragement, we were there this past weekend. Went to MK the evening of 1/1... temps in the 40’s with very high, gusting winds. We put on every piece of clothing we brought and headed out.

It was FANTASTIC... the park was relatively empty. Most rides were walk ons or short waits. Walked into the hub just a few minutes before HEA and could have done flips.

The cold really kept people away.

Layering your clothes can really help. I'd bring a hoodie or a jacket with a hood. I've even worn gloves. Bring ponchos. You can get cheap ones at the Dollar Tree store.

Mixing your activities with rides and inside shows help. The shows will warm you up some and then move on.

Being early to the parks can help. Crowds will be less and you will get more done in a shorter time.

I like Epcot if it's a rainy day.

We have been there when it was in the 30's. I would highly advise winter coats, scarves, hats, and gloves. We also had small fleece blankets(we had strollers at that time) as they are great when you are watching the parades/shows. The cold weather does keep the crowds away, but really the wind and cold mix at Disney can be pretty brutal.

50 in Florida can seem really cold especially if the sun isn’t out. I don’t know if it’s humidity or what but when it was cold it always felt really damp and raw even if not raining. So bring more warm clothes than you think you need just in case. And definitely, buy those gloves! But I agree it keeps the crowds down so can be great! Have fun!

We just got back and survived the weather thanks to our winter coats, hats and gloves! We traveled from Chicago, which was (and is) in a frigid deep freeze. Who knew we'd be wearing our Chicago outerwear on 1/1 in Orlando? Seeing photos of us on Seven Dwarfs bundled up in winter gear was quite funny to us. Even coming from the Windy City, where (let's face it) 30 degrees is balmy, it was quite cold thanks to an accompanying +15-20mph wind. After awhile we bailed out before HEA and watched from our hotel instead. Too windy and too cold!! (Plus, we were all tired after NYE).

Better yet, bring water proof boots. I brought my MukLuks and my UGGs and my feet stayed warm and dry in the cold and rainy days. Just threw in some insoles to make the park friendly (handle the miles). I can't tell you how many people I saw trying to dry their shoes and socks in the bathroom hand driers yesterday

I was smart and actually looked at the forecast so I knew what was coming and brought layers for everyday. A few, like New Years weekend, I didn't need them all, but better to have them. We really did fine. Never let the temps stop us once

That's so funny that you have to buy gloves for your trip to Florida!

We live in Florida and I had to go out and buy my son a couple pairs of long pants because all he had was shorts!

We went in January a few years ago when temps were similar. Wear layers, and bring a warm hat, gloves, and scarf. Remember that the cold wind can really bite, so if you have some windproof layers, you'll probably be very grateful for them!
