We'll be there next week for our first trip and I'm struggling with how to dress. We've never been to California, so not sure how it compares to our crazy easy coast weather. The forecasts show sunny and low-mid 70s, which sounds great, but is it humid? Cool in the mornings and at night I assume? Too cool for shorts or tank tops? Thanks for any insight!

Temps have been mild recently. Look at the photos in this thread, SWL parking info + other updates, park pics and maps, to see how people were dressed on Sunday (5/12/19). (I find visuals to be more helpful than descriptions sometimes.) Layers will be your friend. I'd bring a light jacket for mornings and evenings, especially if you'll be seeing shows at night. Being inactive while waiting for WOC or F! can make you cool off and feel chilly more than you might think. How do you define humid? Usually super humid for us in Southern California is nothing for folks from back east! And, worse case scenario, if you find that you didn't pack enough warm clothes? You get to buy a cute souvenir hoodie!

I am in Northern California and we are supposed to be getting some not normal "atmospheric river" action the next few days, possibly into the weekend (depending on the weather source). Sometimes they travel south and so you may want to keep an eye on the weather and see where it moves to. Good luck, you will have fun no matter what :)

Good to know! We're used to humidity in NY, and when we travel to FL, the humidity can be oppressive. I wasn't sure if the air in Southern California is of the same kind of humidity, or if its on the drier side. Either way, sounds like it won't matter too much!

Its usually quite dry and those who come from humid climates often love it. The weather will likely be spectacular.

No not humid at all! Might need a jacket in the an or night. But other then that it's usually shorts weather. Although another person said it's supposed to start raining in northern California im not sure about southern this week

The weather has been all over the place this month. It rained yesterday, pouring... But by the afternoon, it was sunny and dry. It is scheduled to rain on Sunday and Tuesday next week. I'm in LA County where depending on where you are exactly, it can be a few degrees warmer. Anaheim can be a touch more humid (sometimes). But not at all to East Coast / The South's standards. We were at Disney on Mother's Day (5/12) and the weather was perfect. The day before, the weather was quite cool. Rain was originally planned but then the weather changed. The weather can absolutely change at the last minute.

The safest bet is dress in layers. No need for heavy coats, though.

Well, it can be very humid in the morning and at night, but it's the drizzly, foggy, wet kind of humid. It burns off and by noon should be sunny and dry (around 50% humidity). For example, right now at 10:40pm, it is 84% humidity, but it got down as low as 35% during the afternoon today.

It is cool in the evenings and mornings...50s. Bring a jacket, hoodie, or similar. You can plan on pants and short sleeves. Shorts might be okay since you are coming from somewhere pretty cold. But you will need long sleeves every day. It may rain, and when the forecast says rain possible "in the morning," it's usually a misty rain. Next week is looking kind of iffy, so plan for rain showers, dry afternoons, and windy afternoons and evenings. Pack all types of clothes so you will be prepared.
