So it looks like the rain's going to be pretty bad when we are there (we leave in just over two weeks). :umbrella:

I've never been in July before but have experienced tropical down pours during both my previous visits in October and April. My questions are probably going to sound a bit silly..... BUT here goes.

Will it still be short and t-shirt weather under those ponchos?

I know we cant predict the weather but for those of you who have been before in early July will it rain all day every day - or is it more likely to be a few hours of torrential rain followed by blazing sunshine.

hi, haven't been in july but, went two years ago in august, it was roasting hot and we wore shorts and tshirts, 3pm everyday we had a total down pour for about 45mins and then it was hotter than before! two weeks ago when the rain set in it was still shorts weather so am sure it will be the same in july, hope it helps :sunny: I,m sure if they had snow in orlando it would still be hot! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi

We did late June / early July in 2003. At no point was it even bordering on "cool"!! It will be sweltering hot, even in the pouring rain....most definately T shirt and shorts weather! A lot of times it was too hot to even put the poncho on :umbrella: .

We never had one "full" day of rain, but neither did we have the "rain for an hour and then stops" experience. Several afternoons it rained for 3-4 hours, others times not at all, and on other days, only for about 30 minutes. What Im trying to say is it will be unpredictable!!!

You will be very unlucky to experience more than a few days of constant rain though - as a general rule, expect something late afternoon to evening, and pack your ponchos accordingly!

Dont worry about it. The plus side is, tons of people leave the parks when it rains. Pull on your poncho and STAY! Most rides that might have had 2 hour waits will soon become walk ons. Its definately worth staying in the park if you can.

The rains ok but if your unlucky like we were when we went in july 03. most afternoons and even sometimes into the evening along with the rain we had the lighting which ment most rides would close until it passed over plus no one
is allowed into the pools [ disney resorts ] maybe we were just unlucky but i would never go again in july.we now book in october.

Just to put a different slant on the same story....we were also there in July 2003 and we weren't really stopped from doing anything because of the rain.

I agree with a previous reply - it really is unpredictable and with a bit of luck you won't have many problems.

For example, on our first day we visited MK, left at 2 and returned to the hotel on the 192. Had a swim in the sunshine but could see lightening in the direction of MK. We returned to the MK at 6 with no rain and stayed till closing. No problems.

Yet 3 weeks later I was talking to a colleague at work who was soaked at the MK the same day - some time between 2 and 6 obviously !!

We're going back in 2 weeks so can't have been that bad. NO ponchos though - too much hassle.

OK - so unpredictable is the message. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Lets all keep our fingers crossed and :worship: :worship:....

Thanks for the replies.

We go in July every year.
Yes it's shorts and t-shirts weather. Or even less if it were legal.
It is HOT HOT HOT in Orlando in July. And worse than the heat is the humidity. More humid than you thought possible.

Typically it rains in the afternoon, for no more than a few hours, and usually much less than that. An hour or so. Along with the torrential rains comes the most impressive lightning you will ever witness (Florida has more lightning strikes than any other place on Earth). It is an amazing sight to behold at times.

You will rarely be terribly bothered by the rain.
And you may have a nice drought year. I can't remember what year it was, but one year we were there, it barely rained at all. Which was shocking to say the least. But that is totally abnormal. But let it rain. It sometimes gets rid of the crowds.

I agree with what the other posters have mentioned except for one thing...the rain does NOT get rid of the crowds. :crowded:

We just returned from an 11 day trip. It rained every day. A few days it rained all day long. The crowds were just as bad in the rain as they were without it. I honestly think sometimes the rain made the crowds worse because at least it was a little cooler while it was raining.

Many people even walked around soaking wet without ponchos or umbrellas and they were in no hurry to leave the parks. :umbrella:

Hopefully, things will work out better for you all, but just wanted to let you know of our recent experience.

it sometimes does from the water parks -- if it lasts long enough and if it includes lightning (since you can keep swimming in the rain, but not if there's lightning)...

also you sometimes find interesting things to do in the rain...a few years back, a torrential downpour began just as we were about to leave tomorrowland....
we were just outside of the timekeeper, which we hadn't been in (and hadn't planned on seeing since we don't like 360 degree movies).....so we ran into that building to get out of the rain....imagine our surprise to find that robot that we enjoy so much....

We were there in August 2003 and although it rained quite alot we did'nt let it ruin the holiday, it really depends on what park your at as well for example we were at IOA one afternoon and the weather started to get really bad which resulted in most of the rides being closed until further notice, then the next day we were at MK and when it started raining we did'nt have to go anywhere because most of the rides were indoors. When its not raining though its REALLY HOT so make sure you have plenty of sun cream.

I have to admit that the thought of the heat is bothering me for our upcoming trip in July but hey we are all used to complaining about the weather.

and talk about taking coals to Newcastle but I spotted Scotland ponchos in Woolies at 99p each so have bought some to take with us so if you see three people in yellow ponchos with Scotland on them, say hello :rotfl2:

Oooooh, I must look for those for myself. What a fantastic idea Edinburgh lass. :wave2:

Mumof2 I found them in the "tourist" section where they sell the See You Jimmy hats, tartan wrapped tablet etc. I bought ours in Leven in Fife.

Yellow, with a Lion Rampant carrying an umbrella and says Scotland, hopefully eye catching :cool1:
