Weather Question for this weekend

Hi. We will be at Disney World this weekend and when I look at the extended forecast it says a chance of an afternoon thundershower for every day. We've never been to Florida in the summer time before. Do the showers last quite a while usually or are they usually quick showers. I'm just trying to plan our park time accordingly (or at least have a back up plan if we run into a lot of rainy weather).

I have never been to WDW during the summer, but if their afternoon showers are like Ohio's, they usually don't last long. Just the usual release after the heat builds up. You should find plenty of inside places to go into, such as rides, restraunts, shows etc. And when they say afternoon, that typically means anywhere from 1pm to 5pm, with 3pm to 5pm being the most usual times for these pop up storms to appear.

It rains most afternoons for 1-2 hours in the Summer. Make sure you have ponchos (if not you can buy them at the park for inflated $$$). Plan your days early and late...

Thank you for the advice. I have poncho's I bought at the dollar store. I'll be sure to throw enough in for our entire family each day.

I say take advantage of the rain ... most people decide to leave the park when it rains for an extended period of time...I try to just hang out and when the rain stop the lines are usually minimal...I see the rain as a blessing in disguise at WDW because MOST of their attractions are indoors and arent really affected by rain. People leave because they are a little bit soggy and we stay and enjoy taking up their space

Ponchos are a great idea. It usually rains some where around 3 pm and is usually over by about 5. Don't forget a plastic bag to put the wet ponchos in! You might also want to consider bringing/wearing shoes that are good in rain, like flip flops or water shoes. Sneakers tend to squish.

Also, if you see a storm coming, you might want to hang out near stores, or attractions that are closer together. This way you can avoid a long walk with no shelter. All in all, don't let it ruin your plans.
