Weather in September?

I go in September most years for HHN and it's hot no doubt, but I never found it all that bad.

What is worse is the daily downpours around 3 or 4 PM almost every day, you need to be ready for that as its no fun walking around wet in that heat and humidity.

Those torrential downpours for 5-10 minutes are no fun at all.

September is the peak of hurricane season, so there's some risk to consider. It will be hot and frequently wet. Our 2022 trip got disrupted thanks to Ian, but it was interesting riding out the storm at PBR. No hurricane during our 2023 adventure, but HHN was a complete soaking. The rain started early in the evening and veered between sprinkles and torrential downpours, never really letting up until very late. Definitely flip flop weather. Stock up on ponchos, just in case.

I always used to go in early September because the hotels were cheaper in hurricane season, but with HHN moved into the month, that is no more. I've never been caught during a hurricane, but flew out in between two of them in 2017, so I lucked out. It was either Irma and Jose, or Jose and Maria, can't remember, there were so many that year.
It is very hot and muggy and lately has downpoured every afternoon between 3-7pm, so ponchos are in order. Make sure to get your outdoor rides in earlier in the day. Flip flops are fine, but bring blister remedies/prevention if you're prone to them.

Yeah .. but its still cheaper than October, by quite a bit.

For example Dockside is about 30% cheaper with an AP rate in September vs October. Similar for Aventura.

I got a great deal on Cabana Bay, $130 a night. Mid-September.

I'm a bit nervous for the heat/humidity (Alaskan), but looking forward to cooling off in the lazy river/hitting up Volcano Bay :cool1:

It's seems to continue to rain in the afternoon through SEPT 24th so far on Weather Channel. I have booked SEPT 21 through SEPT 28.
I learned my lesson last time last week of August.
Anyone from Orlando think it will stop in October?

September might be peak hot in Florida. Do you like saunas? Then September will be perfect :) I'm a little south of Orlando, but even October is hawt. We are lucky if a cool front comes through and provides some relief in October. I've done HHN at the end of September a couple of times and have managed to avoid rain, so I guess it must start to dry out a little, but it isn't something to count on. Hurricane season goes through October 31.

HOT. Take a cooling cloth, a fan and drink lots of water and Poweraid. We had heat and storms in the afternoon and at night

Just got back from 14 nights at Universal and it was much hotter than a typical September IMO.
It was not the heat - that was fine - it was the humidity - just too much.
For the most part I stayed in the parks till around 1 - went back to the hotel for a couple hours and then back to the parks or to HHN.

I've done September in the past and it was never this humid. Also the rain that it typically 5 or 10 minutes - was often an hour or so.
Even when there was no rain predicted at all - we had an hour or so of downpours - so be prepared for that. I always carry one of those very cheap disposable emergency ponchos.

October can be better - but it all just depends on the weather pattern that year (or month).

Most important - drink lots of water - you can get a cup of water at most stands and get water from all the free style machines.
They also have a water station set up at the outdoor bar in Springfield.

If you bring your own bottle you can just fill it up at the free style machines - don't buy the purified water in bottles - its way overpriced and no different than what they have in the machines. If you do buy a bottle - keep the empty and refill it at the machines.

Hot!

We’ve been here just under a week and it’s been glorious.

It has rained twice in the evening but nothing during the day, humidity hasn’t been too bad either last few days, and around 95f on average.

As Tony said, drink lots of water!

Still hot and very humid today. Temp in 90’s, heat index in the 100’s. Did early entry at 8 and bailed out by 11:30.
