Weather in October

Hello,

My partner and I were originally planning to go late aug./beg. sep. this year to Disney, but our work situation etc. makes it easier for us to go in the beginning of October.

Last year we were in Orlando the beginning of September, and we found the weather perfect, both temperature and sun-wise. It was some rain, but not too much. As we both LOVE aquaparks, we had a day in an aquapark last year. It was so much fun - but for me was the temperature just about right - any colder and it would get too cold for me.

The question is then; is it too cold in October to fully enjoy aquaparks? Both my parnter and I are a bit different from most people; we prefer it a bit hotter than a lot of other folks.

Thanks for any answer!

My personal opinion is that the weather in October is as close to perfect as it gets in WDW. But since you said you prefer it hotter, I'm afraid to say that you may not love it as much as I do, as it is a bit cooler. Not much, mind you. But the average temperature in October is about 5-6 degrees (Fahrenheit) cooler.

I have done the water parks in October plenty of times and enjoyed them just fine, if that helps.

I think you should be fine at the beginning of October, I prefer hot weather to cold as well...usually it is still pretty hot through mid to late October, but plan for alternate activities just in case. You never know when the weather will change!!

Personally, October is my favorite time to visit all of the parks.
1. Crowds are not nearly as bad as during the summer.
2. It is not too hot, but warm enough to still wear shorts and a tank, even in the evening time.
My birthday is the first week of October and we always head over to WDW. I would recommend going during this time, rather than any other time, weather wise.

Hope this helps

I agree with the prior posters, but the two times we visited WDW during October, we saw some rain. Not enough to cause park touring issues, but be sure to pack a small umbrella or thin rain jacket just in case. The crowds then are minimal so it makes the vsit very pleasant!

I've been heading down mid-to-late October for a number of years now. As a somewhat northerner (Philly area), the weather was usually on the warmer side in the 80s. But the humdity could make it feel much warmer in the afternoon. I pack for warm weather, but I do bring along a pair or two of long pants and a light jacket or pull-over for colder weather. It can get cooler in the mornings. Last year we were under the threat of a tropical storm that stayed to the south, but it brought some rain and much cooler temps for a few days.

I have to say that we have been going to WDW during October for the past 3 years and each time we are down there the weather people have stated that its the hottest October on record. So, I have stopped expecting it to be any cooler than summer!

But, if we could find a time that was more "fallish" I would love it.

It's definitely still hot in October, but it's a little drier. Definitely wear plenty of sunscreen. But it's not as crowded, so it just feels a little cooler not being crammed in with tons of other people. And you've got Food and Wine going on!

Weather wise, October and November are usually as good as it's gonna get in central Florida!

Oct will be perfect & you have the added joy of Food & Wine Festival. :cloud9:

Do any of you know if sun block is necessary during the early October period? We went this past April and needed it, but I can't remember how intense the sun is during the fall.

Thanks!

I definately needed it. I'm very pale skinned, but I though the sun was pretty bad in the open areas of Epcot and AK

I'd say bring it. Better safe than sorry. It's still Florida, and unless there is tropical storm in the area, you aren't likely to see the same type of afternoon showers (and cloud cover) you get int he summer.

You guys ROCK!!

Thank you for the responses regarding sun block. We will bring some! You guys rock!!

:beach:
