I was wondering if anyone who usually goes in Sept or Oct could let me know what the weather is like that time of year.

The reason I ask if DP and I are total heat worshippers and all the previous visits we have made have been in June/July/Aug when the temperatures can in the late 90's, and we absolutely love it. Call us crazy but we love walking around in that sort of heat because it makes us feel like we are actually "there" (if that makes sense :confused3 ). We have never once thought about going any other part of the year because I was too scared that the temp would drop and I would not enjoy it.

We have decided that we both want to go to Food & Wine next year so I am in the middle of planning a trip for the first 2 weeks of October, I am right at the point of booking it but I am being held back my my worry that I am not gonna enjoy it as much due to the weather.

I guess I just want to know whats the weather like during the day, is there still loads of sun, can you still swim in the pools and in the water parks and is it warm enough at night to go out in just shorts and T-Shirts or do you need to dress up warmer ?? :confused3

I know I probably sound like a total headcase and I probably should just do what we always do and go in June or July but I keep hearing how wonderful F&W is that I don't want to miss it.

Please put my mind at rest and tell me the weather is gorgeous that time of year and I will totally love it and never want to go in June or July again !!! :lmao:

Thankies

Hiya Sarah,

We have just got back from 3 weeks in florida and the weather as fab. We flew out the 6th and for the first 2 weeks the weather was around 90 degrees everyday. The 3rd week the temp dropped to mid 70's. We only had 2 hours of rain the whole holiday and it was very hot walking rounds the parks. We would go again in October!!

Weather is perfect on October, personally having been in August the last 2 years we found it way too hot - especially around the parks.

Went a day after Michelle and the weather was unusually high above the averages. I think (correct me Michelle) there was 3 days of record highs, 1 @ 92 deg and 2 @ 91 deg and 1 day record low on the Monday this time last week @ 73 deg..

We were in MGM for that rain and it was the only morning/afternoon rain we encountered for the 3 weeks. It rained on the 27th for half hour in the evening and 2 times over night.

Couldnt fault it.

Thanks for the feedback it's good to hear from people who were there recently who have first hand experience !! :thumbsup2

Although i did get a bit scared when I saw that you mentioned 73 degrees, I didn't even know that temperature existed in Florida !!! :rotfl:

We always go in October one year, September the next to get two trips out of a annual pass! September is usually the warmer of the two (90's), but is prone to late afternoon thunderstorms. Early October is usually cooler (80's), but less chance of rain. However, as with the other posters, we've just come back (5th to 19th October) and it was very warm, on two days it was too warm and this was at midnight! I don't think I've ever worn anything other than shorts and T shirts on any of our Sept/Oct trips - we did go in early February 2005 for DW 40th and wore everything from shorts/T to jeans and a fleece.

We've just been, 12 - 26 and it was very hot until the last few days when, last Tuesday, it was pleasant during the day but cool in the evening, we wore hoody's around Epcot that evening.

I have only known it be cool like that a couple of times in about 6 October trips. Equally, I don't think we have had it as hot as it was on the hot days either!!

Thanks everyone for the feedback !! :thumbsup2

We are still really torn on what to do though :confused3

I really don't want to miss F&W but at the same time I keep hearing tales of it being "cool" or "nippy" and how cool the pools are that time of year and I am scared that might spoil things.

My other alternative is to go mid Aug, when I know it will be hot and humid and I will be all happy coz the weather will be boiling but then I will miss F&W yet again !! :guilty:

So what should I do, what do I sacrifice, the perfect holiday weather wise or the perfect holiday food wise...........answers on a postcard please !! :bounce:

If you can choose between August and October then it's no contest - October is the ideal month to go.
I know you worship the :sunny: but is walking around the parks in 95 degree heat really fun? Having done just that the last 2 years for us it wasn't...if you can , then good for you!

Sarah, I'm like you and love the heat of the summer. :thumbsup2 Last year, however, DD and I went mid-May and the weather was fantastic - even better than we're used to. We figure it's got to be similar in late Sept/early October, so we're going on Sept 28 2007 for the Food & Wine and MNSSHP. So my advice would be go for it, but book earlier rather than later in the Food & Wine Festival schedule... :sunny:

Hi Sarah - we always go in October, and just got back, our first two weeks were wonderful the weather was fabulous, if anything too hot for my DH, as others have posted last week it did get much cooler in the evenings, to the point where I could have done with a light fleece, the days were still warm though ... I have a little of the same worry as you as we plan to go on November next year for the Christmas celebrations ....

Sarah,

You're weird !!!!!

I must admit the one thing about Florida I'm not keen on is the excess heat at times. Do you really enjoy walking around etc in 95 degree heat ????

September is perfect - hot and humid but not as bad as August. We went last year and only had 1 hour of rain in 18 days.

Having been at several times of the year, for me October offers ideal weather, generally it's been in the 80s which is hot but not toooooooo hot - but as I said earlier August (in my opinion) is just stifling.
We went to EPCOT one afternoon, making the most of our Boardwalk stay and as we arrived at 5pm it was 97 degrees, we left before 6pm.

I like a tan, and always come back with one but there are limits to my enjoyment - most people who go in August don't go then out of choice.

Sarah hun - you are mad! :) I'd say go for the F&W festival and I reckon you'll be fine weather wise. Even if it's not 98 every day I think you'll still have a great time and it will be plenty warm enough.

On the other hand if you don't go for the F&W you'll never have experienced it and probably regret it!

In answer to all your questions, yes I really do love walking around in 95 degree heat ............I am a glutton for punishment !! :rotfl:

Anyway thanks for all your words of advice, it has helped me make my choice and we have decided to go to F&W in October. :thumbsup2

We figured at the end of the day it's Disney and no matter what happens we will love every single second of it !! :cheer2:
