Weather in Mid-September?

We are planning our first trip to WF (second to WDW) for September. We homeschool, so I figured this would be a good way to avoid the heat and crowds of the summer.

How is the weather in September? Also, how are the mosquitoes?

Lastly, is it possible to find a site close but not too close to a comfort station, near a playground, and not too far from everything else?

Thank you in advance!

September can still be pretty warm and humid. However, that's when I plan my next visit too so don't be too alarmed by this. Mosquitos are not allowed at Disney, they don't have tickets! Seriously, I've never had a problem with them although some on here will post that they get eaten up. Take bug spray if you are concerned.

Do a search for campsite maps, there are comfort stations in each loop and you can request a site near one. Disney does not guarantee this but will make attempt to honor requests. The maps will show which loops are closest to the playgrounds, I can't say for sure as no kids!:thumbsup2

You didn't say for sure what type of site, that may help your decision too.

Welcome to the Dis!

September will most likely still be somewhat hot. When I homeschooled we tried to take advantage of value rates and a little bit cooler weather. Mid May was our personal favorite as spring breaks are over and school has not let out for summer yet, but the weather is warm enough for swimming, but not too hot. Early to mid October is nice as well. Early to mid November (before Thanksgiving week), mid December (before Christmas break), and mid January up until President's Week are all less crowded, but the weather could be nice or it could be freezing.

I don't remember ever having issues with mosquitos, but there were these large flies that my kids called Tiger flies that were vicious, but not too many of them. Bring bug spray if your kids are sensitive or mosquito magnets.

Will you be in a tent/popup or camper?

We were at WL for 12 days in August 09 our group totaled 10 and no one complained of MosQ bites. The weather was a cool 90+ and the humidity was like being in the upstate after a summer thunder storm. We are going to stay at the fort in june looking forward to the trip we camp at Mile creek a lot at home.:surfweb:

you won't have much problem with mosquitos at the fort. As said earlier Disney doesn't allow them.

But i am here to tell you that Sept. is peak hurricane season for us. It will be hot and humid until nov or dec.

Have fun camping just make sure your a/c is working good as it will make for better sleeping at night.

Even though the days will be hot and humid it makes the pool that much cooler.

Hmmm.. I think I will rethink the idea of going in September. We will be tent camping with no A/C. :(

I wanted to go in May, but we have a nephew getting married the first weekend and a neice getting married the last weekend. My dh has an organic lawncare business so he wants to be home for Spring as much as possible. Perhaps October would be better? I know that is still hurricane season. We need to go before December 15th, as that is when our give a day get a day vouchers will expire. I am not sure how soon they come either - we just did our service last Friday.

Thanks for all the input!

Editting to Add: Would the weather in April be good for tent camping? Just exploring all my options here. TIA!!

I would definitely rethink camping in a tent in mid Sept. Temps are usually in the 90's with rain every afternoon for about a hour or two, then the humidity starts 90to 100%. In a camper with air I would probably go just to be at Disney but in a tent, NO WAY! :tigger:
