o_Oo_OI know everyone hates to read this but we sailed in September and will March in the Bahamas be comparable? :worship:

The water will be freezing compared to September. It's also one of the windy months. I would go south in the Winter that's where the warm weather is.

We did the Western Caribbean on the Magic in mid-March this year, and the weather was perfect!

We are toying with March or May..March is better for school days but is May THAT much better weather wise??? First world problems, here!

I was hoping the Bahamas would be south enough! :fish:
The Bahamas can be warm or cold that time of year. They get the same weather as Florida. You will probably have warm weather it's just the water won't be warm like it is in Sept. Sept is my favorite month to go to the Bahamas. Ill risk the hurricane season for warm water.

Depending on the winter the water can be extremely cold or bearable for those that like it "refreshing". Our Canadian friends thought it was great but I wasn't even putting a toe in. The Bahamas are about even with Miami so they really aren't that far south. We live in Miami and have also been to Castaway Cay in Sept, Oct, March and April. September the water is usually nice because we are coming of the hot summer months.

We have been twice in March and the weather was fantastic. We had weather in the 80's and only one night of rain. The water is good once you get in. See my trip report link in my signature.

I started reading it last night! Yay! I'm feeling much better. Thanks sooo much!

Really, as others have said, it depends on your tolerance for potentially cold water. I (a native Floridian) found even the western Caribbean pretty chilly for swimming in March. Castaway Cay--no way! May was perfect, though. But if you're from up north, I bet you'll be fine! Or if swimming in the ocean isn't on your "must do" list, go for it. My kids (also native Floridians) didn't mind the water though. They'll swim until they are blue and shivering. No matter what, you'll have a great time, though!

It's all relative... we were coming from temps in the 20s at home, so the low 70s at Castaway Cay were heavenly. :sunny: Having said that, the water was a bit chilly. On the plus side, I was still in recovery mode from fairly major ankle surgery - so walking around in the water was better than any dosage of ibuprofen i'd taken that trip. :D
