Hi Guys,
We are booked for 7 day Sept/2005. For my birthday we were thinking of doing the 4 day in January. How is the weather in the Bahamas at that time.

Thanks
Stephanie

It was in the high 70's when we were on Castaway Cay in January this year. Water was warm and nice to swim in.

We sail Jan or Feb every year....in the past 5, we've had one year when it was cold. The others have been Magical! The year it was cold in the Bahamas (CC), it was 40 at WDW. It was about 65 and windy for us, which was too cold to swim. The wind made it difficult to enjoy the beach. However, 4 out or 5 wasn't bad at all.

We have twice cruised at the end of January (2003 & 04) and our stops at CC had gorgeous blue skies and temp of 75 degrees. The water was cool but the kids didn't care and neither did I. DH said the Corona was cold and that was all that mattered to him!

Go and have a great time (with lower rates) :teeth:

My cruise on January 10th of this year, the weather was nice in CC but was a bit windy. The water was too cold for me....I went out on a raft and came right back in...my son didnt even hit the water :) still beautiful though!!!

Last cruise I took in Jan it was way to cool for me...couldn't swim in the ocean, had to wear sweatshirtrs on the beach! With the amount of money a cruise costs if you really want to be sure its warm enough to swim and enjoy yourself I wouldn't book in Jan! My friend went to Nassau last Jan and it was 40 degree there, he was SO dissappointed, they had booked to swim with the Dolphins (he was staying at Atlantis) and it was just to cold to do it.

Hey we were on the same cruise. :teeth: :wave2:

While Orlando may be cold in January, the Bahamas are further south and are more likely (but not guaranteed) to have nice weather.

Here is a link to the seasonal averages for Nassau:

The January average high is in the upper 70's. There is always the chance that a strong cold front could blow through on your trip, but it's also possible that you'll have highs in the lower 80's. In the link above, you can actually look at the weather statistics for each day in January for the past several years -- and then make your own judgement.

You are absolutely correct. Remember, however, that the Bahamas are not that far south (at lease Castaway Cay is not). Is its latitude near Fort Lauderdale?

We've cruised three times in January (and are cruising again this January). We have had beautiful weather each trip, but the water was very cool. I have actually brought my wet suit each time so that I was comfortable on the snorkel course! :)
