weather in january

Hi can anybody please tell me what the weather at the begining of january in like my son wants to go for his 18th im not sure been in april & it was chilly not what we were expecting.

If you thought April was chilly you may not like January! January is the coldest month, the weather can be quite unpredictible. some days in the 80's other days there is frost on the ground!

We loved it though - we only had about 3 cold days and we just planned around these (they were great for AK for example as more animals were around)

We have been a few times from Xmas thru to early Jan. 1st time was the coldest, frost on car every morning, we took shorts and Tshirts, had to buy hats, goves, scarves etc. Other times we have had some good temps, and some cold, its a totally unpreditable time of year.

The weather in January is all over the map...from the 80's to the 40's...this has been the coldest winter we've had since I moved here five years ago.

Hi!

We went in Jan 08 and then Feb this year. This trip was MUCH warmer than last year but I think this was mainly down to luck more than anything else.

We like this time of year, even if it's chilly the sun is shining and we have experienced next to no rain during our trips but if you are wanting guaranteed heat I would reconsider going in Jan as it can be very hit and miss.

This trip we wore jeans and fleeces on our first two days, only first thing, it warmed up by lunchtime.... the last day was a bit cool, but the rest of the fortnight was between 26/29 degrees, much hotter than average I believe, so we were very lucky.

The main 'problem' I find is having to pack clothes for 'all weathers'. I don't travel light at the best of times but having to take every variation of clothing doesn't help matters
