:cool1: :cool1: :beach: My husband and I, and 2 of our children are coming for first time. Staying at the POR , we love to swim. can anyone tell us if it we be 2 cold. or are the pools heated enough, where it does not matter?
Would appreciate some input. thank you:sad2:

I think it depends on where you're staying.

It depends, but Feb is usually pretty cold (Florida standards). 40s at night and 60s during the day. So it also depends on what you're used to.

February of 2006 was REALLY cold in the early part; same thing this February. DD still swam because we were in Florida and, heck, she swims in Lake Superior. I did not partake. We were at POR in 2006 and POP this February. The pools are heated -- getting out it the tough part.

February can be all over the place weather-wise, so you need to be prepared for just about anything. I was shocked at the number of people running around in shorts and tank shirts when it was maybe in the 50's. You can get a day in the high 70's followed by a day in the 50's. It's a nice time to go because there are no crowds.

We went in early Feb this year and in mid-Jan 2006. The kids swam 2-3 days of each trip. Both trips got into the lower 80s a couple of days and were in the upper 50s a couple of days. I could be slightly off, but I think they closed the pools when the temps were below about 55. We saw a few nutjobs swimming while temps were in the 50s. Even though we had free waterpark upgrades both trips we never went because the parks were so UNcrowded we couldn't help spending all our time in them!

Maybe we were just lucky, but our January trip it NEVER rained and our February trip it rained for about an hour ONE morning! We LOVED our Jan/Feb trips!

We've done early Feb the last few years. This year was cold and rainy, just generally yucky until the sun came out and then the temp climbed 10 degrees in minutes...but it always went back in and generally wasn't nice. We had jackets and long pants.

2006 was another story. Great weather. So it can go either way. Just be prepared.

We have gone in February 2006 and 2007. In 2007 we went from the 9-16 and it was great. Yes, there were a few gloomy rainy days, but more often than not it was great. There were just a few days where swimming was appropriate. However, there were ALWAYS people in the pool even on days when it seemed a bit too chilly.

This year we went the first 9 days of February....it was a little chillier in the beginning, but then the weather got better and it was QUITE nice. There were definitely good swimming days.

Even w/ the potentially gloomy days, it was well worth it for us to go at this time of year. We are not hot weather OR crowd people and so it was perfect. We'd much rather sacrifice not being able to swim.

Dress in layers. Wear a hoodie or sweatshirt w/ a t-shirt underneath and you can take things off as it warms up. Luckily we had a stroller w/ a basket underneath. We take a big variety of clothes down there with us, because you just never know.

We went this past February and thought the weather was wonderful. Cool in the mornings, warm during the daytime. We saw everything from coats to tanktops - it was pretty funny. Coming from New Jersey, it was definitely warm enough to us! We swam while we were there - the pools are heated to something like 82 degrees. So we had a blast in the water, but it was cool once you got out! :-)

Enjoy - we liked February so much we're going again in 2008. :-)

You are from Ohio so you will be fine swimming in February during the day. At night it gets cool to cold it just depends.

We go in February and like it.
