We are planning a trip to Disney World during the period December 13 through the 20th. Joining my family will be my mother and father, my brother and his wife, and my sister and her family. Every one is looking to me for the planning. Of course their biggest concern is what the weather will be like during this time of year. I know that last year it was unseasonably cold for Flordia. Could anyone tell me what the average temperature normally is for the middle of December?

Thanks in advance!

I was in Disney from December 11 - December 18, 2001 and could not have asked for better weather! It was perfect.......probably 70's all week. I have heard that last year was unseasonably cold though. I am hoping for that perfect weather again this December!

I believe the average is mid 70's. We've gone the past 5 years the first or second week of December and it has varied. 1998 & 1999 were high 70's, 2000 was low 60's almost the whole week (and down into the 40's at night, cold when the sun went down), 2001 was perfect - low 80's and last year was a mix with alot of rain. The other years had no rain. Your best bet is to bring layers. Like wear a t-shirt underneath a sweatshirt that you can take off if it gets warm.

I will also be there with the family from the 13th through the 20th. I have checked and been told the average high is 73 degrees for that week, low in the mid 50's. See ya in Disney.

December weather at WDW can vary from warm & pleasant to cold & damp. On our December trips we bring a variety of clothes - shorts, short sleeve shirts & bathing suits to sweatshirts, hats & gloves. Some Decembers we have been swimming & some we have not.

We were there Dec 26, 2000 - Jan 1, 2001. It was VERY cold. We had sweatshirts all day and jackets with hoods at night. It was colder than they had seen it in a long time. I stayed at BWV and they started taking the mattress pads from housekeeping and covering all the plants. They told me they have only done this 1 or twice before but it was that cold.

Best advise, pack with layers and definetly bring a jacket. Even at my 30something age, I'm still glad I listen to my mommy who refused to let me leave everyone's coats in her car when she dropped us at newark airport,

I have been going to WDW either the 1st or 2nd week of Dec for the past 7 years. We went the 2nd week last year and it POURED all week. I mean, I have never seen that much rain in 1 day let alone a week. I was tired of being soaked to the skin. We even left a day early, as I thought my time would be better spent getting ready of the holidays.
Other years it has been perfect...80's and sunshine. I remember one year it was 39 degrees when we were in the MK watching the parade. I live in Chicago and it's ok to be 39 in December in Chgo, but not in Fl. I bought Mickey Mouse gloves and used them all week....
Pack a little of everything, shorts, long pants, t shirts and sweaters. You never know until just before you leave what kind of weather you can expect.
It is still my favorite time of year to be in WDW. It is so magicial and the entire place is beautiful to look at. Enjoy the place and don't worry about the weather. Expect the unexpected....
