It will be our first trip this December !! Any shoe tips, weather heads up.. Outfit dont's And any other tips, hints or suggestions!! My husband and I and our 8 year old daughter!!

When in December? I was there the week before Christmas a few years ago and we had to wear winter coats. Especially in the evenings. They tell me it was an unusually cold December and then this year it was really cold a few days as well. I think as far as weather is concerned it is a hit or miss thing. We did wear capri's but no shorts. Always had a sweater or light jacket and 3 nights long pants, winter coats and gloves. If you daughter is going to wear princess dresses I would get some long underwear that matches that way she won't have to cover her beautiful dress with a coat. As far as shoes, just make sure they are comfy and make sure you bring more than one pair and switch them out. Each pair of shoes rubs different parts of the foot. By changing them every other day or so you are less likely to develop a blister.

Go to weather.com a few days before you go and print out the 10 forecast for Walt Disney World. It is fairly accurate. Then you can change out any clothing options that might not work. For some strange reason, I think it is the lakes, between October and February EPCOT is always freezing cold at night. Even if it is chilly put your sunscreen on. Kali River Rapids and Splash Mountain will soak you so if you do not want to be wet do not ride them.

Make sure to visit the Monorail resorts for the decorations. The Grand Floridian Gingerbread house is a sight to see. Most important tip-----have fun!

Weather in December can be really variable. We've been going then for 20+ years now and have experienced everything from shorts/t-shirt weather to winter jacket weather, sometimes in the same weekend.

Yes, I know that doesn't help your planning but its the best you're going to get until a few days before you actually go. The best solution seems to be to plan on taking layers so that some combination will work for the actual conditions you encounter.

This past Christmas week was incredible. Record highs in Orlando in the upper 80s, one day hitting 90. But yea, the best strategy is to check the extended forecast a couple days before your trip.

Having lived in FL most of my life I can remember riding my new bike on Christmas day in shorts and flip flops; other years you would have thought it would snow.

Layers will work best. Jeans and Tshirts will be ok for most of the day. You might need sweatshirts or even heavier coats later in the evening.

The year we went in December (2007, the 2nd week) we switched out items in our suitcases daily leading up to our departure. We had a 2 to 1 ratio pants to shorts to start. By the time we left it was all shorts after watching the forecast in advance. Even have a picture of my 5 yo son wearing a Xmas Mickey sweater (with shorts) near midnight at MVMCP with sweat visible rolling down his face.

The weather can be anywhere from 25* - 90* - I kid you not! I'm a southern girl and have seen it happen.

Also was at Disney first part of Dec. 2010, and we nearly froze - lots of plants died.

Totally unpredictable until maybe a very few days before!

Enjoy - just be prepared for 'any' type weather! :goodvibes
