We are planning on a trip for Dec 16th-23rd. How is the weather from past experiences?

We have been to WDW for most of the past 10 Decembers and it has been hot, warm, cold, sunny, cloudy, rainy, frosty and one time freezing rain.

To paraphrase Forrest, Florida weather in December is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get.

Just pack a little bit of everything, and you can always layer. Since we usually fly from a cold weather city we have a heavy jacket and then pack a light jacket and sweatshirt to cover all the possible temps. A couple of Dollar store throw away ponchos and we are set.

We will be there right before you! ;)
This will be our third trip all have taken place in December! I agree with PP....pack a bit of everything!
Being from MN though....if there is no snow...no boots or winter coats :rotfl:
It always makes us laugh when the weather is in the 50's and people are wearing gear as if they are going skiing! :rotfl:

We pack mostly t-shirts, shorts, few zip up sweatshirts, capris, long pants....

Check the forcast prior to your trip, that should help!

I remember one December trip watching my DH and DD swim in the resort pool, while the lifeguard was standing nearby wearing a hat, heavy coat and mittens. It was sunny, humid and in the 60's, so being from New England, we thought it was fine weather for swimming!

Hey, I will be there at the same time as you.

One thing I hate about December is you have to pack so much more because the weather isn't stable. At least in summer or spring you know shorts and stuff

we used to go every year for my b-day and will go again but at the beginning of Dec. we have just worn sweaters to coats as one of the trips so freezing cold and raining. we live in a cold weather area so 60 would be fine for us but when it drops down in to the low 50's and below that is too cold for us in FL, we may as well have stayed home. lol.

Im from Nova Scotia, Canada so im used to the cold. But when we were there last Dec. it started getting a bit colder than we have ever seen there. We always make sure we have sweaters, jackets and 1 or 2 pairs of pants. And we made sure we did all the water rides while it was still a bit warmer out. Someone mentioned earlier to check the weather just before going, that is a good idea, but always prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Cheers! :wizard:

We were there last year for the week before Christmas and it rained a little but it was mostly sunny. We wore capri pants and short sleeved shirts with a light jacket during the day. However at night we wore jeans, sweatshirts, heavier jackets and light gloves. It was quite a difference between the days and nights. We're from Chicago so we are used to the cold but there were so many people at DTD completely unprepared for the colder weather. The kids did manage to swim for about an hours 2 of the days but the lifeguards were wearing hats and scarves --- it was about 68 degrees.

@ jlm -- you were probably laughing at us -- we dress like we are skiing. We're talking the puffy jacket, scarf, hat and gloves BUT that's because anything less then 60 degrees IS FREEZING FOR people from Hawaii who leave 80 degree temps in December. We actually had to buy that stuff too because Hawaii winter gear is usually jeans, hoodie and an umbrella.

Last year there was a cold front when we came in and the coldest evening was 52 degrees (the night we watched illumination). My teeth were chattering. Later that week it warmed up and could get pretty warm during the day. We like to where cargo pants that can be rolled up or down and layered tops.

Temperature is relative so check out weather.com for the forecast they were very accurate.

We will be getting there just as you are leaving. DBF and I went in December in 2007 and we were expecting it to be nice and warm. Our first day we were completely unprepared and we were pretty cold (but that did not stop us from being in the park:thumbsup2). Then the rest of the days were warm during the day and cool at night. I would def. agree with everyone about watching the weather a few days before you leave. We are planning on doing that as well. The only issue is I am making shirts as gifts this year and since the weather is pretty random, I don't know whether to use short sleeves or long sleeves:confused3.

How about making short sleeved shirts and if necessary, layer *underneath* with a long sleeved coordinated color? That way you'll be prepared for whatever comes your way!

We've also been there the past 10 Decembers or so and agree with all the PPs -- pack a little bit of everything. It could range from the 40's-80's! We've seen it all. :upsidedow

I agree - last year I visited week of 12/12 -we had perfect weather, however when I visited in the last week of March - it was in the 30's! I actually saw a person wearing one of those blue snorkels with the orange inside and faux fur around the hood- classic jacket here in NY
