Hi,

I am curious if those who have gone to WDW the first or second week of December could share how the weather was. We are going 12/8-15 and I was wondering if you did any swimming or went to the water parks. We are from Massachusetts so we would probably be okay with swimming in colder temps than most.

Thanks!

The water here usually never gets below 65º, particuarly at Disney.

Typhoon and Blizzard might be closed to be doing their downtime in December, though. I'd check that out first.

I've always done night swimming at that time. The pools have always been heated, although they are cutting back on the temps in the pools. There often is a really neat, spooky looking fog that sits on the water when the temps are just about right. The swimming is wonderful, but when you get out of the pool, it can be chilly, so you must hurry up and get dressed.

I've never even done the water parks at all.

I've been to Disney several times within the first 2 weeks of December and have had hot and cold weather during that time. Two times I managed to go a week when a heat wave came back (after end of cold front) and it was about 80 every day I was there. I have also been to Disney when everyday didn't go above 56 and the nights got into the high 30's. As for the pools, the main pools always seem to be properly heated with the strange fog floating above it. However, I have found the quiet pools seem to be colder. As for the waterparks, usually one of them is open during Dec. For some reason I am thinking that Typhoon Lagoon was open Nov/Dec. 2 years ago. I went there and swimming when it was about 78 degrees and the water for the most part was warm (only thing I remember being a tad cold was the lazy river tubing pool that goes around the entire waterpark). Either way I haven't had a bad time swimming at Disney during the winter, just remember run back to the room and leave your heater on.

We went last year during the first week of December. The first day was great for swimming...too bad we didn't go that day. After that, it really wasn't great swim weather. Yes, the pools are heated, and you might get a great day for it...but it can also be cold that time of year. We did wear shorts in the heat of day several of the days, but we really had to wear pants and sweatshirts at night.

The last day we had planned on going swimming. So we braced it, and the water wasn't too cold, but it was very windy and cold outside of the pool. The lifeguard staff was wearing winter coats. We ran from the pool to our room.

On the other hand, we did enjoy the hot tub at night several times that week. It was good weather for the hot tub, but again, we ran back to our room afterwards.

a few years ago and went swimming every day. Also went the week before Thanksgiving one year and it was too cold to swim. In central Florida at that time of year, you really can't tell. Good luck!

We are going the first week in Dec. I believe the weather can be just about anything at that time. We will upgrade our tickets if we need to depending on the weather. But, if we go swimming we will have to miss something else. :hourglass

You live in Massachusetts? Oh, yeah-you can swim there! :cool1: When we lived in Massachusetts, we went to WDW at that time of year and went swimming. Meanwhile all the southerners sat there bundled up, shivering, looking at us like we were crazy. Now we live in a part of the country that's hotter than Orlando (over 90 degrees today) and when we were in WDW this last December, we were the ones sitting, bundled up, shivering, looking at those Massachusetts people like they were nuts!
Have fun!

I grew up in Syracuse, NY...the snow capital and couldn't brave a swim the two times we were at WDW in December. Both trips required gloves in the morning and multiple layers to peel off and put back on earlier or later in the day.
