Ok now my DMIL decided that for her and DFIL's 40th they wanted the entire family to go on an Alaskan cruise. No problem. Well according to her the weather is suppose to be great, warm and spring like. Well we leave on Sat. and everything I have read online, as far as weather goes, it is more like a bad spring, in the low 50's, cold and raining. Has anyone taken an Alaskan cruise at this time of year? If so what is the weather really like?

It depends, really. We went on an Alaska cruise in mid-June 2004, and most of the time it was much warmer than we expected. Summery, 80s, sunshine, etc. It was very cold at Sawyer Glacier, and cool and rainy at Prince Rupert (like a "bad spring"). Just be prepared, have wet weather jackets, jeans, gloves, good walking shoes, shorts if it's warm, etc.

Dh just got back from Alaska (Anchorage) 2 weeks ago and the weather was beautiful. We said the days were in the high 70's and nights in the 40's. He managed to get in some bike riding between work-during the day. I say go prepared for anything. Have a great time-wish I was going.

We went in June 2004 and it was beautiful, hot actually.
But.....it has been colder here this year....not sure if this is a while Pacific Northwest thing or not....so I can believe it might be cooler there this year.

DMIL just got back a little over a week ago. She's from FL & finds everything else COLD. She said it was 60's.......and she had on as many as 5 thin layers of clothes at one point. :rolleyes2 She didn't take any "winter" clothes. Layers is the best approach. She just kept peeling as it warmed up.

We do the same when we visit FL in the winter.

Funny thing, they cruise CONSTANTLY. LONG cruises. Everywhere. (2.5 mths around the world cruise. South of the equator cruises. NY to Europe via Nova Scotia & Greenland cruises. Panama Canal cruise. And lots more.) She's never impressed with where they go. She doesn't take pictures; or even tell us about the trips. HOWEVER, the day she got back, she called us & went ON & ON about how beautiful Alaska is. :teeth: She's never done that before!!!!

DH & I want to go in 2 yrs for our 20th anniversary. Have a GREAT TIME!!!

You are going at a good time, since Alaska cruises tend to run May/June thru end of Sept. So, you are right in the middle.
