Weather forecast vs reality at the parks?

I know there have been a few threads on what to do in the parks when it rains, but I'm wondering if any locals/regulars have advice/opinions on weather forecasts vs reality in the parks?

I arrive this Tuesday for a week and looks like rain and t-storms forecast pretty much everyday, but I know that could mean like a 5 minute shower and then prefect the rest of the day.

Anyone have any advice on what I should expect this coming week based on your experience/the forecast?

honestly just be prepared for anything...yesterday was 80% chance of thunderstorms all day, and we got about 5 minutes of rain. Today was 0% up until 2pm, and it has been raining all morning. Weather here is different, and the forecast doesn't mean much:) I've lived here for 14 years now...September is usually the rainest month, usually its just afternoon storms that come thru, but you never know. I would pack a poncho just in case and have fun. I hope you have a great trip!

I've been at EPCOT and it was pouring and the sun was out ans shinning at Studios at the same time. It can rain for a minute or two days. It's hot and humid so bank on that right now. Just roll with the weather best you can at the time. Most likely, it'll change in five or ten minutes.

staceyrhood - We got an hour or two of rain here in Dr. Phillips yesterday. You were lucky. Power went out here for a good two hours as well. It was really bad for about 30 minutes.

That's exactly what it means. We live a couple of miles from the MK and weather has generally been great, especially recently. However, even as I type (about 1pm on Sunday) this we've had steady rain all morning and it looks like it will continue for a while longer. That's unusual. Also unusual at this time of year are 2-3 days in a row without rain, but we had that last week.

Crazy isn't it!?!? Weather here is so different than anywhere else...my husband works at Championsgate... a couple weeks ago he called and said "are you guys hunkered down, I looked at the radar and it looks really bad there...horrible over here." I said "what are you talking about it's sunny and we are at the pool but I hear thunder somewhere." Even the radar isn't right most of the time:)

Be ready for anything.. We've been on trips that was suppose to be all rain and got nothing, we've been on other trips that was suppose to be dry and it was a week of all day rain. Generally it's a short not everyone will get it rain in the afternoon but they do get normal rain storms.

We are in Windermere and we got an hour or two of really strong storms last night, and it's been raining since then. A whole day of rain like today is unusual though.

Thanks everyone! I'm use to 'if it rains - it's raining all day' up here. Been lucky the last couple trips barely any rain so haven't ever had to do any parks with rain really.

We used a weather app (Dark Sky) when we went in July; it really helped us anticipate exactly when the rain was going to hit our location. My phone would go off and tell me that rain was beginning in 10 minutes...it was usually right. It also showed how heavy the rain was going to be, for how long, and when it was going to stop.

Very true. We can be at Animal Kingdom and it starts to rain in the late afternoon so we move over to Epcot where it's dry. Remember, Disney World is a big place and even if rain does cover the entire area, it's not going to be at the same intensity from place to place.
