according to the weather forcasters, it looks like days and days of rain -maybe you will just have it until you are out of the bad weather - we have a tropical depression coming toward us - you will be ok tho sweetie once you have gotten on the ship and on your way - if you run into a problem, you can call me at 321-508-2246 (this is my cell phone number)

Hmm right now the NHC has a tropical storm off the coast right around Port Canaveral on Thursday. Could be interesting.

Weather Update

As of 7:00 p.m. EST - September 6, 2005

We are currently monitoring Tropical Depression 16 very closely. While we do not anticipate a change in the upcoming Disney Wonder itinerary, at this time, we are evaluating all the possible options available for debarkation and embarkation on Thursday, September 8, 2005 should Port Canaveral be inaccessible.

Of course, our first option is to always make our homeport in Port Canaveral, and while no decision has been made, one of the alternatives currently under consideration is Ft. Lauderdale. Should this occur, transportation will be provided. As decisions are made, we will provide updates on our website and via our automated telephone system. Please check back with us in the afternoon of Wednesday, September 7, 2005 for further updates.

The Disney Magic is currently on an eastern Caribbean voyage and is scheduled to return to Port Canaveral on Saturday, September 10, 2005.

The safety and security of our guests and crew members is always our top priority, and we monitor the weather very closely. If necessary, our Captains are always prepared to alter the ships' courses or itinerary to navigate away from inclement weather.

LOTS OF PIXIE DUST PLEASE!!!! :umbrella:

From those of you who lived thru this last year, what happens if they bus to Fort Lauderdale?

We were planning to drive over there early Thursday morning, from Tampa. I assume that if they bus us to Fort Lauderdale, we should do that and leave our car at Port Canaveral, since they will take us back there. Any idea how they will load the buses, etc? Should we plan on being there even earlier than the 11:30am that I was planning for? What about car seats for the kids on the buses? We would then have to take car seats on the boat to have them when we return, right???

Hi
I ran into this last year between hurricanes. We live 40 minutes from Port Canaveral. We drove to WDW to the Polly and was bussed to Ft Lauderdale. Then when we came back Port Canaveral was open and they bussed us back to WDW. The people who went to the Port ended up arriving quite late. I vote for being bussed from WDW.

GOod luck

We embarked in Fort Lauderdale last year and disembarked in Port Canaveral. Rather than taking a bus, I would strongly suggest renting a car. We rented one from Thrifty...picked it up in Kissimmee and dropped it off in Fort Lauderdale, where they shuttled us to the port. Worked out pretty smoothly. I'll be on the Sept. 8th cruise so hopefully I won't be a jinx two years in a row! So far, it just looks like we're going to get lots of rain.

Hi everyone, I am booked on a southwest airlines flight for Thursday morning..from Canada I come !!! I know I should never have booked air to arrive the day of and normally I don't but this was a last minute trip..

I have a car service scheduled to pick me up at the airport instead of disney transportation, ...

Will Disney transport everyone( all passengers ) to the ship in Ft. Lauderdale ?

Should I call Disney and use thier transfers from the airport ? Or is it too late.. ????? I wonder if southwest will even fly to Orlando....

I am a little nervous right now and do not know what I really should do...

thanks to everyone for thier pixie dust, prayers and cell phone numbers...

Last year we dodge 3 hurricanes to cruise the Wonder and then we were the last flight out on Southwest the Friday evening before Jeanne hit... I really do not feel like doing this again.. What was I thinking booking another cruise during this time of year ?

Do you remember how late you got to the ship?Since we live outside Orlando I counted on getting on early to take advantage of the day.I remember hearing the horror stories of how late the buses were and everyone missed lunch etc.

I'm keeping an eye on this and will call tomorrow to see what options are available. I got detained last year with Jeanne but inspite of it we had wonderful weather and were bussed back to PC when we got back.

If I have to drive down to Ft Lauderdale that means dashing out of here much earlier and that means someone will have to get the dog to the kennel other than us.

Fingers are crossed that we sail out of Port Canaveral....

Pixie dust still needed !

TROPICAL WEATHER
Tropical Storm Ophelia spins off Florida's east coast

MIAMI (AP) - A stretch of Florida's east coast is under a
tropical storm warning because of Ophelia.
The warning is up for about 120 miles of coast from north of
Sebastian Inlet to Flagler Beach. And a tropical storm watch has
been issued for the coastline north of Flagler Beach.
Heavy rain figures to be the biggest problem in areas hit by
Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne last year. The latest advisory from
the National Hurricane Center says up to eight inches of rain may
fall.
It also warns of dangerous rip currents from the Carolinas to
Florida.
Ophelia's top winds are about 40 miles-per-hour.

Last I heard on the local news (WESH) is that they are expecting 39 mph winds, and heavy rain today and tomorrow (don't really know till when) It is 80% chance of rain for Thursday. Maybe Wonder can still leave out of Port, but later at night. I am not sure what the policy is with tropical storms, but I am positive DCL will not compromise safety.
All that said, lots of pixie dust :wizard: for a smooth and safe sailing for all of you going 9/8. I am on the boat 9/11 and definetly keeping an eye out also. Especially since they have Ophelia curving south on Sunday and unknown after that as a hurricane 1. :earseek:

Tropical Storm Ophelia strengthens off Florida's coast
Sep 07 8:08 AM US/Eastern

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Tropical Storm Ophelia strengthened as it moved northwestward parallel to Florida's east coast, bringing rain to the central and northern parts of the Sunshine State, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said Wednesday.

As of 8 a.m. EDT (1200 GMT), the center of the storm, with maximum sustained winds of almost 45 miles per hour, was located about 80 miles east of Cape Canaveral, Florida. The NHC forecast some slow strengthening during the next 24 hours.

Ophelia is moving north-northwest at nearly 7 mph, and the NHC expects this general motion with a decrease in forward speed to continue over the next 24 hours.

On its forecast path, the storm should remain in the Atlantic Ocean about 100 miles off the Floridian coast through early next week.

NHC will issue an advisory at 11 a.m.

Come on Ophelia get a move on it will ya..

Update:

Tropical Storm Ophelia strengthened as it moved slowly northward off Florida's east coast Wednesday morning.

Ophelia prompted forecasters to issue a tropical storm warning for the Central Florida coastline from Flagler Beach southward to Sebastian, WESH 2 News reported.

A tropical storm warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected within the area within the next 24 hours.

The system is expected to skirt the coastline over the remainder of the workweek, and possibly begin a southward loop by the weekend, forecasters said.

Waves to be 12 - 15 feet tonight and tomorrow.

Waiting for DCL's info.

At 11 a.m., the center of Tropical Storm Ophelia was located near latitude 28.8 north, longitude 79.3 west or about 85 miles east-northeast of Cape Canaveral.

Ophelia is moving toward the northwest near 3 mph. This general slow motion is expected to continue for the next day or two.

Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph. Some strengthening is expected during the next 24 hours.

Between 3 and 5 inches of rain, with isolated higher amounts of 8 inches, are expected in portions of Central Florida, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Weather Update

As of 1:00 p.m. EST - September 7, 2005

The safety and comfort of our guests is always our highest priority, and we are always prepared to modify our itineraries to avoid severe weather.

Due to the potential impact of Tropical Storm Ophelia along the Central Florida coast, the Disney Wonder cruise ship will operate out of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale rather than Port Canaveral on Thursday, September 8, 2005. The September 8, 2005, three-night cruise will depart from Port Everglades and return to Port Canaveral on September 11, 2005.

Disney Cruise Line® reservation's agents are in the process of contacting guests scheduled to depart on the September 8 cruise and are making transportation arrangements for them to get to Fort Lauderdale. In addition, transportation arrangements are being made for those who are returning on the four-night September 4th cruise.

Guests who were planning to drive to Port Canaveral on September 8th should still plan to do so. We ask that you arrive no later than 2 p.m. on Thursday for transport to Port Everglades by bus.

At this time, there are no additional changes to upcoming itineraries. The Disney Magic is expected to set sail as scheduled from Port Canaveral on September 10, and the Disney Wonder is expected to depart as scheduled from Port Canaveral on September 11.

Guests who are scheduled to sail on the September 8, 2005 cruise may call (800) WDW-CRUISE or 800-939-2784 for more information.

I'm on hold with them now!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
