Bring warm clothes too!! We went last Jan and being Fl residents we should have known better. We ended up buying stocking hats and mittens it was so cold.

it would be easier if we just neded jeans and long sleeve tops as thats what were wearing here anyway and i wont have to buy new for kids -- but do you think we will need shorts? will it be hot enough for them? also will it be hot enough to swim?

Year before last it was in the 20's a few mornings there. It was so cold that they had heaters trying to prevent some of the trees in AK from freezing. that week we wore everything we brought and never even thought about shorts or swim suits. We have also been weeks before and after after that week and wore shorts and even swam, thought it was really too cold! Pack a bit of everything including warm outer wear!

I have been many times during that time of year. Some years I have been in shorts and tank tops others I'm bundled up. It really depends and can change very quick. We take both summer and winter clothes. Last year there were about 2 days to wear shorts during the day. A far as swimming I have seen people in the pool at 40 degree weather of course they were from the arctic circle.
