Guys

I keep hearing how hot it is in August but how bad are the last 2 weeks?

I've heard the queues are better as the Americans have gone back to school but how hot is hot?

We were in Spain last year and it was late 30's early 40's and this was manageable but there again we weren't walking around a theme park.

Just thinking ahead for a possible trip next summer as we don't want to take the kids out of school for 2 weeks again. The alternative would be to tag a week on to October half term but I would have thought the crowds would be worse?

Any input appreciated :thumbsup2

I've been twice in the last two weeks of August and once at the end of July/beginning of August, and I can assure you that the crowds are SO much better at the end of August! The longest queue we had was about an hour and a half for Toy Story Mania, and that was during EMH at MGM. All our other queues were 20 minutes at the most :goodvibes

As someone who loves hot weather, I find it very manageable in August. Even if you're not a sun person, most of the queues are in the shade and you can always stop for a rest and a drink, especially during this period as it's not as manic as the rest of the school holidays. The only problem is that it is hurricane season, and even last year's tropical storm caused some disruption - some rollercoasters were shut at Universal/Seaworld, and a few outdoor shows/fireworks were cancelled or altered. However, Disney are very accustomed to dealing with this sort of weather, and they will try to ensure that you experience as little disruption as possible :)

However, if there is a chance of going in October then I would say go for it! From what I've heard the crowds are smaller than the end of August's, and the Halloween decorations are up too of course! Hope you have a fantastic trip whenever you go :thumbsup2

I was there last year at that time and the crowds were manageable, I've been lucky to have been off peak most of the time so used to very low crowd levels, however the last 2 weeks in August are still decent. Like Howellsy said, longest queue was for toy story mania which topped out at 100 mins, followed by soarin which topped out at 90 all the others were 30-40 mins at the absolute peak times during the day. We did try to follow the busy day guide as often as possible though

I'm going the last two weeks of August this year and quite frankly what with the rotten weather here in the UK I'm willing to become a good shade of lobster.
I'm sure though, that by taking some sensible measures and advice you will adapt accordingly and have fun.

Hi

Myslef and DH were in orlando a couple of years ago last week of Aug begining of Sep we had a hurricane warning and caught what was the tail end of Ernesto (sp?) but it did not cause to many problems for us. we decided to avoid the parks and go shopping at one of the malls close to our resort.

Most of the time it was hot with rain in the afternoon but it did take the humidity down and we had no problems at all. Crowd levels were good the whole time we were there and we managed to get on all the rides we wanted.
Make sure that you make use of the fast passes and plan which rides you want to go on. I.e if you want to go on splash mountain and thunder mountian get a fast pass for the one with the longest que and ride the other by the time you are done your fast pass will be ready to use. This also means that you don't have to keep going back on yourselves which adds to the walking making you more hot and bothered.

Have a fab time:goodvibes
