Weather/crowds in Oct or April?

How is the weather and crowds in late October (Oct 28-Nov 6)?? And how about in mid-April? We may have to switch our dates (was going to go early Dec) and am looking for weather that's not too hot/humid and not too high of a crowd level? Which time of year whould we be looking at??? Any plusses or minus' to either?

You'll run into Jersey week in November (first week), but I've heard you don't want to go anytime around Easter. Our schools are usually on spring break the 3rd week in April.
