I would like to get an idea of what sorts of clothes to bring for our mid May trip. Mostly shorts & tshirts is what I was planning. How cold does it normally get at night? Will shorts and a sweatshirt be enough to stay warm or should we all bring jeans? What about mornings, how cool is it in the morning? Is there any fog in the morning? We live on the southern california coast and may/june we have morning fog and it doesnt burn off until after lunch, so mornings are cool - is it similar in florida?

Im assuming the pools are heated (we are staying at Beach Club Villas) so we should be ok swimming in the early eves, right?

If you've been to Disney World in May can you give me an idea of what to expect from the weather. We'll be arriving May 12.

Thank you!

Hi,

Average highs in mid-May are in the upper 80s with morning lows in the mid 60s. Realistically, highs could get into the 90s at that time of year although the humidity is not as relentless as it is during the summer months. And once in a while the morning low will dip into the 50s.

Enjoy!

Bob

We were there May15-21 last year. We all brought some long pants and sweat shirts but never needed them. It was hot. Well into the 80's everyday and not a drop of rain all week. The kids swam every night.

Enjoy your trip!

We were there May 8-14, 2005. We each brought a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt or jacket. Never used 'em. Getting out of the pool got a little chilly around 11 p.m., but hey, life's not perfect.

We were there last year the week before Memorial Day, and it was hot - in the 90s every day.

We left home (we live in southern TN) on a Saturday, & it was unseasonably cool & even unseasonably cool in St. Augustine (where we spent one night) - too cool really even for us to get in the ocean that day - which is why we had stopped in St. Augustine in the first place.

On our way down, we normally stop in southern GA & eat a picnic breakfast at a roadside rest stop - but, it was too cold to eat outside dressed as we were in shorts & t-shirts, so we had our picnic in our mini-van! :teeth: Granted, it probably would have felt warm to some northerners, but we're used to 70s & 80s in May.

Anyway, by the next day (Sunday), the temps were back to being seasonably warm in St. Augustine, and, when we arrived in Orlando, it was nice & hot. :sunny: During our week, we found the temps hot during the late morning to afternoon hours & pleasantly warm during the evening. It only rained once the entire week we were there. I had packed jeans for us, but we never needed them. And, when we returned to St. Augustine the following weekend, it was perfect, and we were able to spend a couple of hours in the ocean before driving back to TN.

The night we watched Fantasmic, there was a cool breeze blowing off the water, and I felt a little like a bad mother because the mother sitting behind me had sweaters for her two girls, and I hadn't thought to bring anything for our kids.... But, if she had needed me to sew a button back on one of her girls' sweaters, I could have since I had an emergency sewing kit in my bag - along w/ Shout wipes to get any stains off said sweaters & bandaids & first aid spray & bug spray & all kinds of other things we never used! ;)

Last few years we have gone the begining of May and its been hot ! In the 80's to 90's. Night time we still wore shorts and t's

We were there May 14-20 last year. It was hot, high 80's/low 90's. We never needed anything early in the morning, of course we were never up before 9am so don't take my word on the early morning temps. But by 9 it was pretty hot. If you spend all day in the heat it may seem cooler at night especially if you've gotten tanned or sun-burned. I brought a few thin long sleeved shirts and those worked out fine. I don't even thing you would need a sweatshirt. Just a long sleeved shirt to put over you T-shirts would be fine. I din't bring a pair of jeans and the only time I wore long pants were the khakis I wore home because I think it is always chilly on the plane.

Have a magical time!

We are also arriving on May 12th...we are you staying?...we'll be at POP.

We were at Disney the first week of May last year...

We always wear shorts & t-shirts.

On the night of EMH at MK...we had planned on staying til about midnite...well around 10pm, DS7 was so cold that we had to go back to the hotel....he was in shorts & a t-shirt & we had left his jacket back in the hotel.

For our May trip this year...we will wear pants for evening EMHs.

We have never needed jackets in May but it's also good to pack a windbreaker. You will love the BCV. We just returned!!

We went May 1-8 and it was very hot. I wore a tank top and shorts all week. No need to bring sweatshirts or jeans. It was so hot at Animal Kingdom, my 2 year old DD had a break down, she was literally freaking out. Some guy selling ice cream felt bad for her, and gave her an ice cream for free. I had to bring her to a fountain near the rapid ride and literally place her under the running water. She was much better after that, I think she feel right to sleep from pure heat exhaustion. I never saw her act like that.

We went at the end of May last year (same this year) and it was pretty hot. The last day it rained all morning though and I bought my DD and I disney sweatshirt jackets because we were cold. We have worn them constantly since then. They are a nice little reminder of being there. Other than that though it was very hot.

I agree with everyone it was hot last year in May. BUT we did use light jackets or sweaters in the morning and evening. We always spend an evening on the Boardwalk and it was nice to have a light sweater. I do remember a year that it rained and it was very cool. We had to but coats and pants, so now I always plan for a day or two of bad weather.

We're going to be at WDW from May 13-21, staying at Pop.The only jeans and sweatshirts I think we're going to need are the ones we wear on the plane. We can always wash them if by chance we do get some freaky cool weather.

I am going May 21st. I am packing just one hoodie. A zip up. You can tie it around your waist if you don't need it, but is great to have, even to sit on a curb for a parade or in the risers at Fantasmic. Or even if you decide to do a morning or evening EMH!

Just one though.

may, what a beautiful time for disney.
we go every year in may (about the first weeK) 7 days from today :)

the highs are usually in the upper 80s sometimes may even reach 90! its beautiful. Sometimes at night if it begins to rain it may get breazy. Usually we pack a few t-shirts, a few tank tops, shorts, a pair of capris, a pair of pants and a sweatshirt just incase. Sometimes a wind breaker is also a good idea.
the weather is always good for swimming, most of the time you want to swim because its so warm and humid.
We have only had one year (last year) when we went to a water park in the early morning and it was just a bit chilly, but it always warms up

May is also a great time to go because the parks are less crowded :)
so if u have any more questions let me know!
good luck with everything and have a magical day :)
