Could you lovely people tell me what the weather is usually like in Florida at Chrimbo time? is it rainy :umbrella: , is it cold :cold: or is it pleasant enough for t-shirts :sunny: and if anyone could give me any other information you think i might need going out that time of year it would be very much appreciated :flower: :flower: :flower:

The Florida weather is as unpredictable as ours, Sharon. We've been twice in December and once in January. We got lucky each time, but some years there have been frosts! Last December, we had hot weather (in the 80s) for part of our trip and then a cold snap at the end - chilly enough for jeans and sweatshirts, but still sunny. The good news is, we've never had rain.

Hi,
We were there from December 28th to 5th January and the weather was in the mid 70's every day. People told us that Christmas day was wet and cool though. Here is a link to a site where you can compare the weather from previous years.

Thanks for that Mick and Debbie, I will have a look at this site when I get 5 mins, i'm just sooooooo excited about going back to Florida that I suppose the weather shouldn't really make a difference. :cool1: :lovestruc

We went over Crimbo in 1999 and it was really cold some days. 2 fleeces, a woolly hat, scarf and gloves!! :cold:

We were still in Florida for three weeks after Deb (above) and it was extremely cold for well over a third of the holiday. By cold I mean you needed trousers, top, sweatshirt, coat and preferably hat and gloves.

We had three days out of twenty three that I would have called "nice enough for swimming outside" though we did brave Blizzard Beach on a couple of days when it wasn't!!

The plants had been "wrapped" to protect them from the cold for a few nights and the swimming pool shut once due to the temperature.

I think we were just unlucky though!!

We spent Christmas 2003 at WDW and the weather was very cold on arrival (17th Dec) but gradually warmed up until we left on 1st Jan when it was 80 degrees.

It was very cold at night and we definitely needed hats, scarves and gloves whilst watching the parades and fireworks. During the day we found it started of very chilly in the mornings but by mid day it was warm enough for just a light fleece.

The locals kept telling us it was unseasonably cold but from other posts on this board it seems as if the weather over Christmas is unpredictable.

Luckily we had no rain at all.

Spent Christmas in 2003. arrived on 20 thDecember, got up the next day to bright sunshine ,Blue skys. Put on shorts and a T shirt went to sea world. It was sunny all day but very cold out of the sun, Got wet by Shamu, got even colder. Stayed till 9pm and was frozen daft. Americans from the south came up to me as we left the park and they were wearing fur coats, hats etc. They asked if I was from the North and I explained that I was from the North of England!
Thankfully the weather improved the next day and got warmer as the holiday went on, temps in 80's.
Going again on 17th December this year. The Answer really is be prepared for everything, If it gets cold buy some warmer clothing when you get there, The sales are unbelievable from boxing day onwards!

Thanks for that, we are trying to get flights for 17th December, having a good look around first for the best deal, who you flying with ? we have noticed if we are flexible with our dates to fly out on 13th/14th is much cheaper, so we're still keeping our options open - but the 17th is our preferred date :flower:

We are flying out on the 11th Dec and managed to get VA flights through Funway holidays. They came out about £500 cheaper for Flydrives than VH even with the 10% discount.

:cool1: flying on the 17th with Travel City Direct. It is worth playing around with dates. That flght returns on 31st Dec.. If staying over the New Year it goes up considerably. We are staying at Homewood suites on I drive, 4 adults, Intermediate car 2 Dolly Parton Dixie Stampede tickets ( +2 free tickets) Platinum insurance. £2736.
