hi all:wave:
i'm going to wdw 29th june-13th july and i'm now starting to really panic,i've been reading lots of conflicting reports about the parks being so crowded and the weather being iffy i'm beginning to wonder have i made to right choice to go at this time,we were there last in november 2001 and it was quite nice low crowds and good weather
is it really that bad in june? am i worrying for nothing? are the queues for the rides that bad or are they just like our theme parks,
please is there anyone out there can ease my mind:rolleyes:

thank you
eve:D :D

We've been the beginning to middle of June & found the crowds fine & not too busy.

We thought the weather was great, would definately go in June again.

Now we're worrying what it will be like in August. June wasn't an option this year due to eldest DS exams.

In Orlando, June and July are some of the busiest times of the year, however, it depends where you are going :) Disney, the crowds are getting lower (I have a reason why, but can't say, or Disney fans would cuss me out :( ) and Universal's crowds are growing larger. This is because kids and teens are on Summer vacation and have their summer plans at theme parks. We don't make many trips during the school year...
As for the weather, expect pop up thunderstorms every afternoon. Rain chance is almost always 30 to 40%. The heat in Florida contributes to the possibility of the storms, however they don't always occur. Thunderstorms here are rather short, in most cases, and should not be reason to cancel or postpone any plans. Just go on an indoor ride or show and it may be over by the time it's over. :)

Now you can't say that without expecting someone to ask why ? By the way I'm an Orlando fan, who likes to visit Disney occasionally with the kids.

awww I don't want people getting upset with me...besides it's not just my opinion. My parents and some other people I know think it too. (and note: opinion. I don't know the facts, but it sure seems to be true...)

(Hint: why do you think Disney is creating movies for there rides? Think about it...)

While the crowds will be much larger in July than in November, it's not all 'bad news'. The theme parks have long opening hours, so you will have more chance to take a midday break (useful for avoiding the worst of the heat and the crowds) and to return in the evening for more fun. Also, the parks have their full roster of parades, shows and fireworks. In my view this more than makes up for the high attendance and slightly uncomfortable weather.

Regards

Rob

We were in Orlando 28th June - 12 th July this year - we avoided the parks on July 4th. We found the crowds manageable if you went to the parks early in the morning, working around EE days. By around 1pm we found the parks at their busiest, and also the temperature at its hottest. At this point we usually took time out - returned to the villa, had a swim etc. The longer opening hours of the summer were IMHO much better to the shorter hours of winter - (we've been in Feb) And as Rob says, parades and fireworks are on more often. We had Spectro on every night of our trip - much better than only being on 1 night of the week.

We also used FastPass extensively - and this helped avoid long lines. If the wait was longer than 15 minutes we used FP.

Having a 10 day world ticket helped too, because we were more flexible with the number of days we had to visit the parks, we didn't feel compelled to stay in each park all day.

We only had 2 days in which rain caused a problem - the thunderstorms were quite severe and the rain mega heavy.
We actually used one of these bad storms to our advantage on our first full day. We were in MK and just sheltered until the worst of the rain had passed - about an hour, then we found the park very quiet as most of the guests had gone!!! We could walk on most things.

Rain and cloud also helps to bring the temperature down - a blessing sometimes., The days that had no rain (yes there were a couplke of days with no rain....LOL) and very little cloud were extremely hot, so rain is not all bad news!!!!!

Hope that helps

Cath :D

hi
thank you all so much for your quick responses:D
we were suposed to go in september next year but my eldest starts his secondary school and they go on a sea type cadet trip and because it is a nautical school he would have been in trouble if he didn't go,hence to change to go in june(6 weeks holiday was not an option way too exspensive for us)then i found all those horror stories about the weather and being packed(sorry thought i would explain)but you have all made me feel so much better and more relaxed about going at this time;) my guess is because we have the ultimate park passes we could be more flexable with coming and going to the park which would help
could i please ask one ore thing about the weather,my dh likes to have a little sun tan(so he can return to work and show off sad i know:rolleyes: )when you have a storm in the afternoon is the weather warm and sunny before and after??

cath,i was reading you trip reports last night, what wonderfull reports:D

Hi again

Yes it is sunny before a storm - I came home nice and tanned!!!

The rain can start very quickly - sometimes it is still sunny and ypu can feel spots of rain!!!

Don't forget though, the sun is very strong - the UV index was Extreme, so sun cream is a must!!!!!

Hi-5!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Nice to see another Ghostbuster Show fan! Woohoo! I have the show on tape too! :smooth: *drool* lol

All the parks have their own weather centre so when the clouds start bubbling up just watch for activity on the outside stalls, things like the sketch artists. They will start to cover up about 30 minutes before the rain hits. Just head for an indoor atraction then. When I was there in June a couple of years ago the rain usually lasted about 30 mins to an hour and started between 4pm and 6.

hi coluk
thanks for your advice,i can handle the rain if it only last an hour or two
hopefully when we go it might not be so bad:D
