Normally I wear flip-flops in the parks and I never have a problem but this summer I was thinking about trying something different....ooooooooooohh!:scared: Has anyone worn lace up vans in the park? I have a few pairs that I wear every now and then but I definitely dont do as much walking as I would in Magic Kingdom!! I threw in a pic just incase!! Thanks!

I don't know about those (since I'm a guy) but I wear the old school slip on vans all the time (even though I'm almost 30), but I don't ever wear them anytime I'll be doing alot of walking. They don't have alot of padding. I do have a pair of Sperry's that look just like my Vans slip ons and have worn them, but they've got 2" of padding in them.

The Vans you're thinking about have absolutely no support which is a very bad idea at WDW. My sons wore mens Vans last Oct. and were fine but I have to wear New Balance.

I always wear (the slip on style) Vans to the parks. I love them!:lovestruc Of course I'm never really picky about shoes...but I've never had a bad experience with my good ol' Vans! I was comfortable walking throughout the parks, and I think they look pretty cute too! :thumbsup2

I've never worn lace up, but those look pretty comfortable :]
I wore slip on ones without socks once, bad move. I got bad blisters on the back of my feet and they were sore walking back to the hotel until the next morning. As long as they're not slip ons and you have socks you should be fine. :)

Unless you can wear any shoe with no problems, your feet will kill you in those. They're heavy, stiff and have little support. Not bad for around the house or home, but not good for lots of walking!

My 7 y/o son wore a black version of your Vans during MNSSHP '07 and loved it. No complaints of sore feet. He wore pirate crocs on the other days, though :)

I wore my comfy broken in slip on Vans last year and was fine. Of course after 10+ hours at MK my feet hurt, but they would have in any shoe. I say go for it :thumbsup2

Needing to have your feet "supported" is an old wives tale and encouraged by shoe companies. The shoes you've picked out look very comfy and fine for lots of walking. I'm 52 and wear a similar style when I'm at WDW doing a lot of walking.

One thing I would recommend for sure though is that you try them out......maybe wear them a week or two before using them on your trip.

Bring along some mole skin for any hot spots that develop and you'll be all set for your vacation! Have fun!!

My DS 14 wore his and his feet hurt!!! We just returned Friday night. Of course he insisted his shoes were fine, but by the end of the day his feet hurt. He's tall, 5 10 and 160 pounds. I hope this helps.

I usually wear flip flops as well..in particular the Rocket Dog "sunset" they are fantastic...if I do go with sneakers I wear Chuck Taylor All Stars and never have a problem with them

If you are worrried about the sneakers you can do a couple of things.
1. Wear the sneakers to a park that is close to your home resort (For example If I were staying at the Beach Club I would wear a questinable shoe to Epcot so if it got too unbearable I can just go back to the room and change)
or
2.Bring an extra pair of flip flops and leave them in a locker

Good Luck!

I wear the male equilivent of these all the time and even at WDW I have never had a problem. It does not have a ton of padding but it does seem to have more tha most flip flops.

When its all said and done, its going to be what your own feet will tolerate. Of course, they would definitely need to be broken in first. But that's just the start. It will depend on how your feet are shaped and where you put pressure when you walk. I certainly don't ever recommend taking only one pair of shoes to WDW. I think you will sorely regret it. I can wear flip flops in the parks with no problems, but I have a couple different styles and will sometimes switch off. The ONLY shoe I've ever been able to wear ALL day and ALL week in the parks with NO hot spots or blisters are my Nike Celso flip flops. Other people NEED tennis shoes for the support. At any rate, take at least TWO pair of broken in shoes to wear so you can switch off. Take Moleskin if you want(I've never used it) also. A bit of antipersirant rubbed on your feet where your shoes rub will also help with that friction. I know it works, I've used it. I do think you should wear the above shoes for a long walk if at all possible to get an idea of how comfy they'll be. In the end, its what YOUR feet can handle, not ours.:)

I have a pair of skater shoes I love to wear that are similar. They haven't much cushioning or support, but because they're so thin and so thoroughly broken in it's absolutely comfortable beyond compare. (they're not too constricting or heavy that they put unnatural pressure or rub on my feet) I wear these shoes everyday though, so they are re----ally broken in.

If you're concerned about supporting the bottom of your feet, you could try gel inserts. Though I'd make sure to give those a long test walk to make sure they don't slip around in your shoes or anything before you make it to WDW. ;)

Its just going to depend how strong your foot is. If its very strong you can literally walk barefoot and be fine as far as support goes. I wear flip flops at the parks all the time, never have a problem. If you need lots of support vans won't fly. There's no way to know ahead of time if you're not sure how your foot will react and everyone's will be different. It probably has something to do with how much running or at the very least, activity, you do.
