In January when i go DLP i know its going to be freeeezing and alot of you have recommended Thermals...

So i was looking at them today in the shops and OMG they look like vests and rather flimsy. How the hell are they going to keep me warm??

Can someone tell me exactly what they do because i think id rather save my money and wear a normal vest underneath my clothes.

I've just bought some thermal leggings for myself from Matalan but I must admit I looked at the vests and thought the same as you!

For my DS who is almost 3 I got him thermal t-shirts from Marks and Spencer and they feel really lovely and soft inside and some thermal long johns in Mothercare too.

I wonder the same? are they made of wool or something, cos that sounds itchy!

I mite get the leggings but not sure about a vest, i mite buy one and see if it makes any difference.

How much are the kids thermals at M&S are they expensive?

The kids t-shirts were £8 for a pack of two which I thought was very reasonable. They did kids leggings/long johns as well and I think they were £5 each. The leggings I bought in mothercare were £10 for two.

I bought some the other day for my December trip, they look like nothing but apparently they are high tech and will be warm!

They feel like such a fine fabric that you won't be able to see them under clothes - which is a good thing, I guess. I also bought some sock liners, you wear under your regular socks for extra warmth.

When we went in 2005 I bought thermal vests for all of us from M&S. I didn't want to spend an awful lot of money on the ladies camisole types (couldn't see how that could keep anyone warm :rotfl2: ) so bought myself the largest size pack of the child's size which were shaped like a shortsleeved Tshirt and they fitted me fine (I am a size 12/14). I bought DH a pair of thermal leggings, and myself and my DDs wore thick tights under our jeans. DH was adamant he wasn't going to wear the leggings  and I must admit the first couple of days of our trip it was so mild that we were walking around with our coats undone and the thermals all stayed in the hotel drawer. Then it turned bitterly cold overnight :cold: and we were so glad of them and yes, DH was very thankful for his leggings!!! :rotfl:

They seem to give you a lovely cosy warmth without feeling itchy or too hot and they are thin enough that they don't show through your normal clothes when you take your coats off in a restaurant.

I'm going to Primark!!!!!!!
I'll be there with a 4, 3 and 2 year old and a grumpy DH so I'll need to save a few pennies!
Did Primark do adult sizes or did I not pay enough attention when reading the other posts?

Tesco does a good range of thermals for ladies and kids too :goodvibes

Ahhh thermals - i remember them well!!

Used them a lot when i was a Pc walking the beat for nearly 18 years on the North East coast. Didn't know where the wind came from but certainly knew were it ended up!!

Apparently the knitted design traps air pockets around your body and they heat up and keep you warm - or so i was told. Not attractive but practical.

hope that helps

Andy

Thermals... I'm old enough to remember my liberty bodice as a child :rotfl:

Thanks for the tip about Tesco, I'll check there tomorrow!

I got my DS (2) thermal vests from primark....a few months ago and they were reduced to £1 for 2!!!!:scared1: Couldn't believe it!!!;) I also got long thermal/wooly socks for him too (primark)...2pk reduced to £1...

My mother in law got me pink thermal vests for part of my xmas!!:rotfl: Luvin it!! She showed me them and they are really pretty!!! lacey bits on them too!!!:rotfl2:

Primark at the mo also have nice fleece lined boots for about £6. They look really cosy.....I already bought myself snow boots...I look like big foot but you know what...I don't care!!!:rotfl2:

Would defo recommend wearing a layer under your trousers/jeans.....oh boy you can feel the burn otherwise!!!!;) Oh yeah and ski gloves....Tesco girls aged 14 fit me....£3 odd!!!

I thought the same, they would never keep your warm but Thermal Vests do work. I wore mine the whole time last time and even when I came home. (You don't need as many clothing layers or a big heavy coat when you wear one) Will definatly take them this time aswell

Mine are only cheap ones from primark.
