Wearing skirts in the parks - comfortable summertime option?

I think I will be packing a couple of skirts with me! And thank you also for the skort and Body Glide suggestions!

I'm definitely packing a couple 'hippie skirts' when we go next week... I thought it would be a cute option for Epcot, since it doesn't have a lot of rides, and because we are going to the Coral Reef Restaurant and then to Cirque. I usually wear the cute hippy skirts and a tank top, so I'll be going to stock up this weekend, so that i'm good and ready to go!!! Thanks for posting this question!

I too am not so comfortable wearing shorts. (I will however make an exception in the FL heat.) But I wear skirts in the parks all the time. From denim to knee length flowy skirts. They are the best thing in the world. And I have never had any issues. They are actually, in my opinion better than shorts, and cooler.

Go for it!

even before I gained my "baby" weight. My legs are very pale and my legs long and thin, but my skin is dry and a bit rough/bumpy at times. I wear capris and sundresses/skirts to WDW. I find them much more comfortable then shorts and very airy. Most are long, because I feel funny wearing them really short at 36 (plus I no longer has the bod for them). I also love my cotten/spandex capris. I know the visual is not good, but they look like tshirt material and are very comfie, due to the elastic waist.

I love skirts for the parks at WDW!

They are cool, comfortable and much more flatteringon me than most of the shorts out there. I either wear a knee length or very long skirt myself and have never had a problem at all. I actually just bought a disney themed mock wrap skirt at the Disney store on-line....i have one i bought last year too....both super confy and cute~

I agree that skirts can be cooler than shorts. I love the long gauzy hippie skirts that allow for a great deal of 'ventiliation'. I don't wear skirts to MGM because of TOT and RnRC, but will wear them to the other 3 parks and DTD without hesitation.

I love skirts for the parks! We were just there in June and I wore skirts almost exclusively. Like others, I *really* do not like shorts...skirts are so much more comfy!

Also, I found some really cute stretch terrycloth skorts at Kohls on sale for $10. The brand is Tekgear.

Thank you for this tip! I am going to see if my local Kohls has these! Thanks also for the Bodyglide tip. We have an REI here, so I am assuming I can pick up some moleskin and Bodyglide there.

1) I vote for short skirts.
2) They are VERY comfortable for me to look at.

I love skorts. There is a really comfortable one in the Boston Proper catalogue. It is comfortable, lightweight, just the right length, and a good quality fabric. I love the feminine look of the skirt, and the flexibility of the shorts.

Have a great trip!

I wanted to dress up a little for Cinderella's Dinner so I wore a knee length skirt to the restaurant I had changed into while at the Animal Kingdom and it was so comfortable, I LOVE knee length skirts, they are very comfortable, flattering and cool. I would highly recommmend them.

I'll be wearing skirts to the parks next week. Always above the knee, but nothing reveling. My DH says that I look my best (and sexiest) chasing the kids at the park in my skirts. So this is one gal who will definitly be in skirts!

I love wearing skirts and dresses all summer long--and at WDW. One thing to keep in mind with the longer skirts, is that they may take a while to dry after a wet ride and may get a little longer when wet and hence drag on the ground--yuck! I would have at least a few inches clearance imho.

Otherwise, skirts and dresses are awesome at WDW!

Thanks for posting this question! I am going alone with DH for our 15th anniversary in August and I too have wondered if I would be comfy enough in a skirt, I would like to dress up a little since we will be out on our own for a change, and he sees me in shorts on a daily basis! I have the long sarong style skirt from the disney store with the Mickey Tank that I would love to wear one day, it is really comfy.

Long skirts and skorts are great. What really gets me is how many women I've seen wearing short tight skirts and high heels in the parks! Not sandals, stiletto heel pumps! Why? Why? Why? And how about the ones who wear long dark colored turtlenecks when it's 90 degrees out! Just looking at them makes me hotter...

I haven't worn shorts since Trinny and Susanna on British TV pointed out that there is hardly a woman that shorts flatter. I am inclined to agree with them! Stick with your skirts they are lovely and cool. After all, they look great on Minnie! ::MinnieMo

I must ask, what the hell are skorts?!!

Ha ha-- I saw that, and I'm not so sure I agree with them.

I love shorts, especially the new "skinny" styles that come down to the knee. I live in shorts during the summer! I think a lot of women can look good in shorts; the trick is finding the style most flattering for your height and body type (the *one* thing I love about being 6'0" tall is that I can wear lots of different syles!)

I've worn skirts to DTD, but never to the parks. It would be too awkward for me trying to get in and out of rides.

erinstar-

Skorts are a combo of shorts that have fabric in the front & back to make them look like a wrap skirt. :goodvibes They can save embarassment when climbing in & out of rides. :o
