wearing princess dresses at DL

Do I take a princess dress or not for my DD(4)? I'm so torn, they just don't seem that comfortable to wear around. But I'd hate for her not to have one if she wants to wear it. She also has a really soft and looks comfy minnie dress from the parks that she could wear instead. What do I take for her, if any? What do you do for your daughters? I really don't wanna have to buy another one there, she has 4 now, plus the minnie one. Thanks!

We are going to do a character meal, not sure which one. We did Goofy's last year. She likes princesses, but isn't obssessed with them. Her passion is Marie from Aristocats and Bolt, and Capt. Jack Sparrow (unfortunately, I think this one can from me, haha).

Wondering this exact same thing!!!! We are going in 2 weeks with DD(turning 5 the day we get there), and DD (20 months). DD(5) is obsessed with Cinderella and we do have a dress from last Halloween....trying to decide if it is worth it to pack it along or not...I really don't want to buy one there, either, LOL, but I keep wondering if she will actually wear it all day? And if it will be warm enough for her to wear it?

My daughter is 5 and wore her dress twice last year in Disneyworld and is already talking about wearing it again in Dec. She loved wearing it and the attention she got while wearing it. i brought a tank top for her to wear because I thought the sleeves with glitter would rub her shoulder but she didn't complain at all. I also brought some leggings for her to put on when she was done. I would bring it, when/where else can a little girl wear a princess dress and fit in so well! I did make sure she was wearing proper shoes even if they didn't really match her dress.

Little kids love dressing up. If they don't wear it in the parks when will they wear it? And how could they wear it somewhere else, that isn't likely to be around a Castle.

I say take it! I don't have girls - but I love to see the little girls dressed up in their princess dresses.

I would just take a little t-shirt or tank top for her to wear under it and maybe some shorts or leggings. (can you tell I don't have girls?) And comfy shoes! Can you get some tennies that have princesses on them? That might work.

My advice ..... take the Disney outfits (atleast 1) and have a back up comfy outfit to change into (maybe a Disney themed tshirt). In colder weather my GD wears leggings/ jeans and shirt under her Princess dress. Be flexible, go with options.....and have a fun ! ! !

Some of the beautiful Disney outfits / dresses are scratchy, so my GD usually wears a light weight shirt and pants or slip under her dress.

1 year my niece (age 5) wore a princess dress everyday of her 8 day Disney World trip. She had basic outfits to change into, but she had so much fun with all the attention and feeling special in her dresses, that was her outfit choice of the day. She had no problem on rides. She wanted to wear the cute little Princess Disney shoes, but we opted for pink Nikes / Teva's (sandals / shoes). Even Cinderella said she doesn't wear her glass slippers everyday....."you have to be alittle practicle".

We only let our daughter wear her princess (or Tinkerbell) outfit to DL when it gets cooler. I cringe at the idea of all that polyester in the heat. Like everyone else has said...legging and a tshirt work wonders!

Both my girls wore princess dresses every day of our 3 day September trip, but I got my DD2 a Disney Princess nightgown that was super soft (polyester satin) and lightweight. DD5 had that option, too, but insisted on her fancy itchy Belle dress. Like others have said, bring options and see what she decides. I also insisted on good walking shoes even though they didn't match.

Took my niece in June for her first trip and she wore her Cinderella dress the entire day! She refused to take it off lol. She got so much attention for it and she loved it. She wore shorts underneath since it was a hot day in Summer and we brought a tank top just incase she wanted to take the dress off. But nope, she loved wearing it all day.

I would say take It. It's not hot enough to say don't take it and if you are concerned it wont be comfortable take a disney theme shirt with shorts or pants. I usually pack dd outfit with some shorts and pants just incase she gets uncomfortable or sleepy. Hope this helps.

We bring her cheaper/older dresses for her to wear in the park. She's going to get a princess makeover this trip, but that will be the only time she wears the new dress/outfit. We just don't want her "good park" dress (they are more expensive, but better made than cheaper ones) to get messed up while having fun in the park.

When my dd was that age (shes now 10) she would only wear princesses dresses to the parks. I carried with me another outfit but she never once took advantage of it.

She loved all the extra attention it got her - plus she was a very girly girl at the time. Now... not so much.

Another alternative is a disney 'custom'. Lots of people make them on etsy. You can find cheaper dresses that are totally disney themed. I'm making my own this year..but now I may be tossing in a couple princess dresses too
